Lovely greeting by Simon.Fab room, clean, lovely linen.Great shower.Quiet no noise.Had Dinner which was OK price wise but sorry to say the meal wasn't as appealing as it was the descriptiin on the menu.Two young ladies waiting at table, just short on pleasant chat. Breakfast was FANTASTIC, Luke was working the breakfast, 5* to you Luke. Def return

This was a great hotel; I really enjoyed my stay! The staff were all very helpful and friendly, my room was very nice, the food was good (with a nice range of vegan options), and it was all very reasonably priced too. I would definitely look to stay here again in future! :-D

Stayed overnight for Thames Walk. Lovely hotel and staff. Simon, the manager, was especially hospitable in opening the dining room early for us when we arrived for breakfast. They are doing a refurbishment next year (2025) so it should be even better!

had a great lunch with a group of friends and it was very good. we all had a great time and we are really looking forward to visiting again in a few months for our Christmas lunch. always get a good pint of real ale too. this time was a really well kept ipa

The staff were lovely and attentive, food was top notch, my full English breakfast was perfect. I will be staying here again and telling my friends and family to do so. Thank you to the staff for a lovely experience you made me and my family feel at home.

I stay here quite a lot when visiting family nearby. Always get a nice spacious room and get a good nights sleep. Friendly staff and really helpful and it is nice to get good customer service that is so lacking in other places these days. We often stop for a meal and Simon and Dave were really friendly going above and beyond - what we wanted wasn't on the Sunday menu but made it for us so that was a really nice touch.

Very friendly staff in particular Simon, Andrew & the chef James. Andrew was very attentive during our breakfast making sure we had everything we needed. Bedroom was comfortable but probably needs the decor to be updated. Hotel quite close to Abingdon.

We stayed as part of a large group (1 night) with a combination of dogs, kids and adults. The Staff were sweet and we felt they were under pressure due to many factors. Firstly the grill went down so there was a very limited menu, which of course became more limited as the night went on! However this can happen anywhere and we were notified asap (although we couldn’t go anywhere else). The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The rooms were spacious however very overpriced. I had a family room and the spare bed wasn’t even made up. There was a layer of mould in the bathroom where the cleaners couldn’t reach the top of the tiles - not overly nice for a family room. Everything was in working order just a bit grubby. The bed was clean however. We were equipped with a kettle etc but there was constant discrepancies between the rooms as to what you got. We laughed as some had biscuits, others didn’t, one didn’t even have coffee bags or tea! It was very adhoc! For dogs the place is great. They are very welcome and there is a large garden out the back next to a field so they can dash about with ease. This was very helpful. There are also swings in the garden which is a nice touch. The carpark is free however across a busy fast road so not great with slower dawdling children! But it’s all doable! If you’re travelling on business, the WIFI is shocking. Logs you in but kicks you out randomly. Many of us couldn’t get WIFI. If you need WIFI, bring your own dongle (although signal also weak). The manager was sweet and treated us to breakfast to make amends for the dinner the night before. This was appreciated. Beware if you’re room only - we didn’t realise and felt a bit cheated that a £135 mouldy room doesn’t get you breakfast! It’s hit and miss. The fry ups looked good and the pancakes were ace. Don’t go for the sourdough toast breakfasts as you get one tiny bit of toast and a topping - not worth the high price tag. The continental breakfast was lovely. So overall it was a bit of a meh stay to be honest. The manager did his best but he was up against it! I don’t think we recommend it unless a one night pit stop with dogs. Loads of potential though so hopefully they can put a bit of money into it and spruce it up. Then it will be great!

Hi there we stayed at The Dog House over two nights in June ( Saturday and Sunday ) . When we arrived we were met by the manager whose name is Steve . He was very polite and friendly . He seemed to be a very hands on manager . We were given our room key and had a very nice top floor room . The room had everything in it , full bathroom with shower , a desk and chairs , tea and coffee making things and a lovely double bed . We went down to the bar and had a nice chat with Steve who served us . The next day we went out and about . We went back for dinner which was so nice . We have garlic mushrooms on toasted ciabatta, then we had the roast rib of beef . It was very nice and the young girls that served us were lovely too . I finished my meal with the cheesecake which is worth a two hour drive just for that , my husband had the sticky toffee pudding and custard . The quality of the food , drinks and service were amazing . Monday morning we got up and had breakfast our order was taken by Andrew and our food cooked by James . We had full breakfast, coffee and juice which set us up for the day . We will definitely be booking again to stay there . My husband has disabilities and we were happy to see that there were spaces right in front of the hotel .
