We selected this hotel due to its proximity to the coach terminal. It is closer to the marina than uphill to the centre of town, which suited us well, especially since we arrived in pouring rain. We stayed in the quiet motel part and paid what in hindsight and compared to other hotels/motels we stayed at seemed too high a price ($144/night). Our room was large and had all the basic amenities except for hair shampoo. All we got was a tiny piece of soap each. Although everything else was there, the room lacked a feel of comfort. Still, if you are only in town for a night or two you could probably do worse. As mentioned, the hotel is fairly close to the pretty marina (if you want to go whale watching), and the flash-looking entertainment centre is on the way there as well, although during winter you won't find much to entertain you. There is a large IGA nearby, and also a few restaurants. We can recommend an Indian one just out the back door. If you don't have a car, the rest of town including the visitor information centre is a bit of a walk away. It is also quite a long walk out to the interesting Museum of the Great Southern. There were not many visitors in town while we were there, and no tours were operating during the one full day we had. So we ended up hiring a taxi at a fixed hourly rate and went out to Torndirrup National Park, which was money well spent, particularly since the rain had stopped. We didn't have any issues with check-in and check-out and could also leave our luggage for a couple of hours. So all in all it was not a bad stay, but the accommodation was not quite value for money.
