Upon arrival the main lobby doors were shut due to renovations. There was a scrawled note pointing to a side door, which necessitated a long walk to reception. The check in agent didn’t seem at all apologetic about the upheaval. When we got to the room there was a musty smell and none of the bathroom toiletries worked, instead just 2 small bottles left. At breakfast the next day both the coffee and juice machines were not working. To be fair the lady doing breakfast seemed embarrassed by this. At checkout, again unapologetic and gave the excuse that they hadn’t received bathroom supplies or had the breakfast machines fixed! He commented that the renovations would last well into December. I complained both in writing and by phone. The agent I spoke to when questioned why I was not told about the renovations when I booked by phone, replied “If the hotel doesn’t tell us, then we are also unaware!!” I received a standard answer from the hotel, meaning nothing. I again spoke to customer service? They were unwilling to refund anything, saying it was solely down to the hotel! As mentioned by others the hotel staff simply don’t care and customer service is ineffective. Probably the worst hotel I have stayed at! Fortunately there are other brands that actually care and value their customers.
