We have recently returned from a 10 night stay at the chateau and have had a wonderful time. Corinne (the owner) is a fabulous host - warm, friendly and extremely welcoming. Our room was large, the bed very comfortable which is a huge plus for me as I suffer from a bad back and 99% of hotel beds just don't suit me. Fresh croissants, pain au chocolate and pain au raisin alongside fruit, cheese and ham for breakfast set us up really well for the day and on those days when we didn't want to eat out, Corinne cooked us the most incredible (& value for money) three course meals. The pool was a welcome relief at the end of hot days out exploring the Charente countryside. For the more energetic there is also a tennis court, table tennis, a badminton net and swings for children so plenty to do on a cooler day. As well as being a great cook, Corinne is also a superb baker and a chocolatier so make sure to take home a few pies, cakes and chocolates - they are all delicious and the chocolates are available to buy online as well so we can stock up anytime. The town of Chef Boutonne is just a few minutes drive away and has all the amenities you might need for shopping or eating out. A little further away in Ruffec is a fabulous restaurant by the river. Ask Corinne for the details as I can't remember the name right now lol. Keep an eye out for the spa days here and I wish I could make the summer ball on 23rd June this year as it sounds like great fun - maybe another year! All in all, a truly wonderful place to stay for a holiday, weekend break or business trip. We will most definitely be back :-)
