Disappointing stay. Rooms were noisy, especially at night. Could clearly hear people walking around in the rooms above and a tiled internal hallway that dissects ground floor accommodation creates an echo chamber effect. Some rooms were below par with timber veneer surfaces 'bubbling', towel rails that fall off the wall (a known and long-term issue, according to motel management), and a musty smell present. 'Real' glasses, china and cutlery replaced by paper cups and bamboo plates and cutlery due to COVID concerns, according to a note left in the rooms. COVID has been under control for quite a while, so continuing to provide low quality disposables possibly has more to do with saving money (less housekeeping) than mitigating health risks. At $175 a night, the overall standard didn't match the price point. Restaurant food and service were poor. Our group was served five meals that were not up to scratch. Polite feedback was ignored by wait staff with no attempt made to remedy the situation. Elsewhere in these reviews, you will see motel management responding to negative feedback by claiming they would have fixed things, if only they'd been told at the time. Well, despite telling management about five unsatisfactory meals that included some expensive dishes, management advised the poor quality was due to the chef being temporarily replaced by a backpacker! Shame we weren't made aware of that before we ordered. There was no attempt by management to make good a poor experience. Running a motel and dealing with the public are demanding. I get that. But on this occasion, this property and its team didn't meet reasonable expectations, in my opinion.
