Heart of Ella

Ella Mountain City in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Very beautiful Village. BUT All in all I felt very vulnerable so we only stayed 1 night and not the 3 we booked, it was worth losing money just to get out of there. Around US $ 80 per Night it's way too much for this place. All the way from North America we came to enjoy the Ella Mountains, but the GUEST House / Hotel worst experience ever at a hotel (if you can even call this a hotel). This place should be shut down by the Australian owners.

We booked two double rooms in the 3rd floor charging US dollar 65 per night per room. ( SriLankan Rs. 20,000 each). Room only basis. Room 111 n 112. Honestly say it was a rip off as the facility of Rooms and service is horrible. First no vehicle can't reach to the hotel entrance and you have to walk on very steep hill walking path to hotel. Old people and heart patient should consider before they make reservations with this hotel. Cleanness of room very low. Due to the construction full of dust in staircase hand railing and balcony even inside rooms. TV with Dialog box available in the room but not working due to non payment of service provider. No hot water in Showers. Tea/coffee packet kept in the room very limited for one time use. Celing fan in the room not fixed properly as it make huge noise. This hotel is run by one care taker family who doesn't have any knowledge of hotel facilities. When we complain about the lack of facilities the answer he gave we don't take SriLankans to this hotel because of this nature of complain and we take only Europeans as they stay without any complain. Owner of this hotel should take note his statement.

Me and my boyfriend stopped here for 2 nights recently and we are not ones to complain or write a bad review but honestly the room was dusty and dirty. There was stains on the bed sheets, the pillows smelt, the floor needed a good mop and the room needed a good dusting. There was also work going on to build an elevator, the owner said the work wouldn't start until late morning but the work (drilling and banging) started at 7am. Don't bother having breakfast included in your stay as the breakfast was awful!! We had to feed it to the dogs in order not to offend the lady in the kitchen. There was 4 power cuts whilst we was there and I had to get ready in the dark, my boyfriend went to tell the staff and they said they might of cut through a powerline due to the construction work, however it was just our room that had no power 🙃. We understand money can be tight however we suggest putting more efforts into the basics like the cleanliness of the rooms, a hairdryer that has the correct plug socket, better breakfast ect than trying to build an elevator in peak season. The room had a beautiful view and the owner was very polite and smiley, however the basics wasn't there and its nothing like advertised. Photos attached.

High up with nice view. Need tuk tuk to get to town. Had 2 rooms and both was not to clean and bedsheets looked used and dirty. Lots of noise due renovations and barking dogs (true the night). Renovation is taking the view of the hotel and should be mention at *********** due the hotel is effected in different ways building an elevator over some time

We had a great stay at the Heart of Ella hotel! The rooms were very comfortable and the views were incredible. The hotel is set away from the town making it very peaceful but still within easy reach of the town. Breakfast was tasty and the owner was very friendly and helpful with any requests we had. We would definitely come back again!

We spend there 3nights room was really nice and clean view from the balcony amazing it was nice to relax there after all day of exploring Ella I need to mention all of that wouldn’t be so exciting without big help of the owner big thanks to him and his efforts to make our stay pleasant as it could be I definitely will remember that for w long time

The owner was a really nice man who did everything to make our stay perfect. We stayed one night at Lucky hotel and after that 2 nights at Heart of Ella (which we preferred). Both hotels are from the same owner. The breakfast is great and the views are also amazing from our rooms. They are building more rooms at the top of the hotel, I think these are going to be the best one yet! One day we went out to see a waterfall and the owner arranged a taxi with his own driver. He was such a good and save driver, he is truly recommended. At the other side of the road from the hotel there is a small restaurant, called Cafe by Serenite, make sure you go here also. It is placed perfectly for the hotel. We liked Heart of Ella, and his owner Veejay, very much!

I had an incredible one-night stay at Heart of Ella hotel. The view is spectacular, with clouds rolling in over the mountains. The owner, a friendly and pleasant man, surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, enhancing our experience. Highly recommend!

We had stayed 3 days in Ella with no regrets. Place had amazing views, big bright room with balcony and lovely breakfast prepared by owners. The host was very helpful, willing to organise the transport and other services like laundry and many more. I can highly recommend this place if you're planning your stay in Ella.
