Stayed at Bae Abermaw for two nights for a birthday getaway. The hotel is in a fantastic position and the views are amazing. The staff were very friendly and the car park was large and even if the hotel is full there is still plenty of room to park. If you have no mobility issues you can walk into Barmouth in a few minutes. The reception closes each day after the last new arrival checks in so make sure you have your key with you at all times because the door will lock then. There is a bar area which is very nice but not constantly manned so when reception closes, turns into an honesty bar. The breakfast was very good with help yourself continental breakfast and a toast machine, waitress then takes your order for hot food, unfortunately both mornings we were there, there was delivery issues and we couldn't try the Welsh rarebit or eggs benedict. We booked a standard double room, I didn't consider the views and just took it for granted but when we got to the room ( room 7)I realised my mistake, we were overlooking the car park, completely my fault but and it's a big BUT the Windows all had stick on frosting which meant you couldn't see out at all, now it may only have been a car park but I would sooner look at that than nothing, it felt like I was in a bathroom and there were three Windows like this, very claustrophobic and tended to make the room dark. There were no plug sockets anywhere near a mirror to plug in hair dryer etc and no overhead light in the bedroom only bed side lights also not a chair to sit on in the room only a small dressing table stool. The bathroom was very nice and modern but again no shaver plug socket. I wouldn't class this as 4* room but we were charged the full date for this room. They had made a mistake with our booking (even though we had booked over a month earlier) and it seemed to me that we had been placed in an overflow room ?? as the hotel was full. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would book again but definitely only a sea view room as they are not much more expensive. Ps to hotel please put a few lights near walkway from car park to front door as it was quite dangerous at night especially in the rain
