Petronilla - Hotel in Bergamo

Great location! Cute outdoor patio for a really nice breakfast. Nice and clean interiors. There’s a gym but we didn’t get to use it. 20 minutes walk to cita alta. Very friendly staff.

Petronilla is one of the loveliest boutique hotels I've ever stayed in. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer than one night. Central, quiet, tastefully decorated, with spacious, comfortable, clean and well equipped rooms (except for the lack of a coffee machine / kettle); outstanding, delicious breakfast, and above all, perfect service: attentive, generous, helpful, informative - and always with broad smiles. Big thanks to Joanna, Rebecca and everybody on Petronilla's wonderful team!

Perfect in every way. We were upgraded to a spacious room. (Smallest rooms might be a little tight.) Reasonable room rates cost half of hotels elsewhere. There is art everywhere in the hotel. Excellent breakfasts. Friendly and helpful staff! Great neighborhood.

Lovely boutique hotel with amazing, friendly and ever- helpful staff. Our room was on the 3rd floor at the front and we only heard any late night noise (bistro and restaurant across the road) one evening when we had the windows open. No sound could be heard when the windows were closed (other than the aircon). Our room was large with a large bathroom and wonderful walk-in shower. The breakfast choice was excellent with made to order hot breakfasts beautifully presented and cooked. Good location with shops, restaurants, cafes and buses nearby. Being of an age, we took the bus up to cite alta. All the Italians we met were very friendly and helpful and keen to practise their English. It is only a very short journey from Bergamo airport but it is an extremely busy airport and, when we landed, around 8.30pm, there was a long queue for taxis and none there. There is an airport bus but it is a normal bus without luggage space. If you travel with less luggage than us then this may be an option. It is a fair walk then to the hotel though there is a bus you can take but beware, many of the buses stop running mid-evening. It is a beautiful city in two parts, upper and lower and a wonderful hotel. We stayed a week which, I understand, is fairly unusual. We did travel to Milan for one day, 1 hour by train, but the Lakes were a 2 hour journey with a change so we didn’t manage that. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t praise the hotel staff highly enough, especially the front desk staff, Francesco, Joanna and Rebecca who really made our stay special.

A small and very friendly hotel. The hotel was quiet apart from some external noise in the street one night. Room was clean and comfortable , breakfast was very good and staff were very helpful. It takes about 1/2 hour to walk from hotel to Bergamo's Old city but it is a pleasant walk and you have the option of taking the bus or funicular. We would highly recommend the hotel.

Spent our last night in Bergamo at this lovely boutique hotel. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff who were very helpful. Rebecca and Joanne were so friendly as were the others but didn’t get their names. The room we had was lovely with a small typical Italian balcony over looking the roof tops and the courtyard. The bathroom was very modern and large with the most powerful shower.. There was also a huge bath with jets. Bed was very comfortable. Lovely courtyard where we finished the evening with drinks. Recommend the Italian gin. Breakfast was excellent with a fabulous buffet selection. Eggs cooked to your preference and beautifully presented. Loved the white table linen which you rarely find these days. Set in a lovely part of Bergamot with plenty of shops and restaurants near by. About 15/20 minute walk from rail station. Highly recommend.
