My family and I spent a week at the Presidential Mountain Resort (PMR) in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. The tranquility of the pond, lush forest and open spaces provided us with a real change from our busy city life-style. The resort provides a variety of types of cabins to choose from which were decorated with wood paneling to give them a rustic feel. The furniture was comfortable and the beds were cozy. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We particularly enjoyed going over the three wooden bridges which linked the various parts of the resort. The trails through the forest were also a treat. PMR is a family friendly place. There are three, uniquely constructed play areas which provided fun and entertainment for the children (and adults). We were all fascinated by the farm that was home to goats, sheep, hens and a rooster. The children enjoyed feeding the animals the grass and wild flowers they had picked in the near-by fields. Segways, paddle boats, kayaks and small boats were available as well. The competent, hospitable, and caring staff helped to ensure the stress free environment of the resort. There was always someone available to help with what ever was needed. The surrounding countryside contains many interesting places to see. Bethlehem is a quaint little town with unusual shops and interesting people to talk to. There were many beautiful mountains and lakes to go to, but our favorite was the Kancamagus Highway. It’s about 20 minutes from PMR and extends for about 30 miles. The scenery is exquisite, the water falls are amazing, and the lakes are peaceful. You can take the Bear Notch Road to the Crawford Pass, which is also very picturesque. I wish that I could give the Presidential Mountain Resort more than a five star rating. Elaine
