Where do I even start. For over $200 a night I was expecting so much more from this place! The pictures are gorgeous, it looks so picturesque. There were glowing reviews boasting about the amazing features of this Lodge. But our experience was so far from that... I can't tell you what to do but I'd strongly suggest reading some of the bad reviews before booking. My family member and I rolled into the parking lot after a 9+ hour travel day from out of state. We were excited for a relaxing evening at a fancier-than-we'd-normally-go-for-accommodation-experience before a long day of travel the next day. Check in went smoothly and we were ready to head in. Upon entering the room, we were immediately taken aback by how it looked like any other lower level hotel or motel. Cheap looking furniture, neatly made (but older looking) beds, and a slightly dingy red wall with chipping paint. Besides some new furniture it didn't look like the place has been updated in quite some time. We accepted that where we were staying had a more rustic feel to it, but this wasn't rustic it was just outdated. It was hard to overlook the musty and sweet smell we were greeted with. My family member noted it smelled like furniture polish but nothing had visibly been polished. We quickly adjusted our expectations and opened the blinds. The beautiful view of the sun slowly setting over the river was obstructed by smears of bird poop and a dirt covered window that hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. Still, it was a lovely view. We tried to open the windows to attempt to air out the smell but they wouldn't budge at all. Finally with a lot of force one opened slightly, and about three minutes later we had both windows open enough (about half way) to let fresh air in. That satisfaction was short lived when we looked up to see cob/spider webs lining the entire top of the window. The window sill was also caked in dirt and the track was filled with dead bugs and debris. Thankfully there were no spiders in or on the window, but it's certainly not something you want to see. As a family member went to start hauling luggage inside, I took a look around and observed that all the surfaces were dusty. Side table, nightstand, dresser, and desk. It looked like the room had gone unused for a long time. I took off the sheets and checked for bed bugs. Thankfully clean sheets, and no bed bugs but I did notice that both headboards were smeared with a visible greasy substance. I opened up the nightstand to chuck a few belongings in and was greeted by a hair and some dirt. Feeling icked out I immediately went over to the kitchenette, closet, and bathroom to take a look around. The closet door handle was broken and the closet would not open at all. Admitting defeat I threw some of our belongings by the desk. The kitchenette area was pretty clean enough but we discovered later on once putting our food into the fridge, that it didn't work. It would've been nice to have known that before our
