Original room - - Not clean. Dirty towel hanging on the door. Toilet paper strips on the floor. - Bed frame is hollow metal. Sitting on the bed results in loud, hollow metallic sound. - Smoke detector was sitting on a shelf, while wiring was hanging out of the ceiling. - Wi-Fi did not work in the room -- phones would not connect to it. - Trim work and painting all looks "homemade" and not professionally done. Requested a different room. The Desk Attendant tried to tell me he had to call his manager and it would be up to 30 min or more before he could contact them. I insisted on a new room then. The Desk Attendant and someone from Housekeeping followed me to my room, where the Housekeeping person picked up the towel & toilet paper strips, and then asked if all was OK now. When I pointed out the smoke detector, he told me it might be because it was a smoking room. It was a non-smoking room, and the Desk Attendant agreed it was non-smoking. They ended up moving us across the hall to another room. 2nd Room - - Smoke detector had a red light on. Not sure if it was fully working or not. - Smoke detector had the battery area fully open and no batteries in it. - Top Door hinge in the bathroom squeaked horribly. WD-40 might revive it, but it might be rusted out too far and need replaced. - Wi-Fi did not work in the room -- phones would not connect to it. - Trim work and painting all looks "homemade" and not professionally done. I get it -- I paid for the Days Inn. It's not going to be a fancy, upscale hotel room. However, this property is "very tired" and is not in the shape it needs to be. Does it provide very basic accommodations? - Yes. Would I stay somewhere else and pay more next time? - YES!
