I stayed at the at the Premier inn Braintree (A120) hotel on Thursday 15/16th August 2024 prior to a flight from Stanstead Airport. I have stayed at this particular Premier Inn many times, the facilities in the area are very good, and it’s only short distance from Stansted Airport with good communications down the A120 to the Airport and M11. On the days in question, I noticed that the temperature in the room to be extremely uncomfortable (as you can see from the photos the temperature was 28/29c in the room), and it meant that I did not get a good night sleep. (even after striping the bed down) There was a fan in the room, but I found this ineffective. As you can see from the second photo Premier Inn does recognise, they have a problem, as they were offering free ice pops and frozen towels (there is also a rehydration station at the reception) Also, the state of the restaurant where I had breakfast left a lot to be desired with the fabric seats badly soiled ad the carpet around the drinks area in a similar condition. The hotel is in dire need of some TLC (and air conditioning) On the day there were numerous complaints from my fellow hotel guest at reception. I have made a complaint to Premier inn as the do ‘promise’ you a good night’s sleep however the only reply I got was a very corporate one and I quote “upon reviewing your concern, I regret to inform you that our Braintree (120) Premier inn does not have air conditioning” and therefore not included in our “Good Night Guarantee”. They did not address the issues in the restaurant. So, make of that as you wish, certainly the ‘Good Night Guarantee” is not worth the paper it’s printed on, and I will not be staying at this hotel again.
