The Lion Hotel

On the whole the hotel was very clean and cosy, and the lady on the night staff was very welcoming and pleasant ! The breakfast was very well prepared and tasty! for the price paid we did not expect to have instant coffee/satchets and to make our own, and not to have a further charge for a barista style coffee! We paid an extra £15 for a late checkout so we could relax before leaving only to be disturbed by a young man servicing the door locks of which we had no pre warning of ! Also the wifi was vitually none existent on the secong floor , these issues would of been raised but no one on the reception upon leaving

Attended a family christening meal here after the church service. This was not the first time we had eaten here as my wedding reception was held here 12 years ago. I have to say that we were yet again bowled over by the 'above and beyond' attitude shown by the young people who front this business. After one of the babies in our party became fractious and unconsolable through tiredness his mother (my daughter) had to leave the meal just as mains were served. No problem for the staff, took the meal to keep it warm. After a while it was clear that my daughter was unable to rejoin the meal and I kindly requested if it was possible to 'take out' the meal. So the big shout out goes to Zak and Megan who not only made this happen but cared enough to ensure it was plated nicely with extra veg and gravy, wrapped securely and all with such amazing friendliness. Both my daughter and I send our huge thanks to you for taking the drama and upset out of a challenging event. Even before this we thought fondly of this venue but it has outstripped the service of anywhere else locally.

What an amazing welcoming hotel. Stayed with my partner for his birthday and nothing was too much trouble. He even got a birthday card from the hotel. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and the shower is brilliant. Breakfast is to die for. This is now going to be our breakaway hotel.

Stayed here for one night and overall a good experience. Room was small but perfectly adequate, decor rather tired but clean. Mattress too soft for us but that’s personal taste. Had evening meal in restaurant. Food and service excellent and downstairs has obviously been revamped very tastefully. Breakfast ok but no fresh coffee , instant make your own, same with tea, teabags and coffee sachets on cereal station. Just a few tweaks like this and side plates on the table would enhance the breakfast time. Food at breakfast was fine and a good choice of hot food. Brewood is a lovely little village, not much changed from when we used to live in the area 50 years ago. Good to walk round and down to the canal to walk off the evening meal!

Wonderful welcome at the Lion Hotel from the lovely Juliette and fabulous service from Chris who was an absolute delight! Both ensured a superb experience for us at this utterly charming hotel….thank you so much again! Food lovely too and presented beautifully. Highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel in a quaint little village staff very friendly and helpful throughout my stay especially Zac and Oscar food is amazing and top quality room spotless and very comfortable really enjoyed my few days and will definitely stay again

V. poor customer service. Paid in advance so they were not bothered that my key card didn't work and I was locked out on the street waiting for ages at midnight ... seemed no one was on duty. Another couple also got similar treatment. . They had been driving for over 5 hours, had payed in advance but not allowed a room as they were late. I decided to leave, give the couple my room as the lady was expecting a baby and they were being turned away and would of had to sleep in their car. £126 for a very average room and shocking treatment. Have written a couple of constructive emails directly to the manager but had no response. .

This could have been a better review if the staff had been a little more customer-focussed. Arrived here after 9pm on a hot day to find my 2nd floor room was like an oven even late into the evening. The window had obviously been left shut and the curtains wide open all day - why could not Housekeeping have made sure it was properly ventilated and shaded? If Premier Inns can do this, why not you? I was not the only one suffering this problem. Having vacted the room for an hour leaving door(!) and window open, I then found an electric fan in the wardrobe which I had to use all night. Very poor quality sleep as a result. Breakfast was poor. All the staff were sitting around one table obviously having a break and one explained the breakfast routine without bothering to get out of their seat. There was no real coffee available (extra charge!), instead just Nescafe sachets same as in the room. There was no fresh fruit or croissants and very limited choice of cereals. It seemed to take ages to cook scrambled eggs and two poached eggs and, when they arrived, it was no wonder as the scrambled eggs were dry and the poached eggs were solid and way overcooked. Good location spolit by poor customer service.

Our room was very noisy due to the music being played loud downstairs in the restaurant so not the easiest time getting sleep. It is in a very nice town that is relatively quiet during the night, except for the restaurant downstairs. However, the breakfast was exceptional, being freshly cooked and having a variety of options.
