I recently stayed at Ibis Brussels Erasmus and was utterly appalled by the lack of basic hygiene standards. Upon checking in, I was told that the room had been thoroughly cleaned and prepared after the previous guest’s departure. On the surface, everything appeared to be in order—the bed was neatly made, and the room looked clean. However, what I discovered later that night was beyond shocking. When I pulled back the covers to get into bed, I was horrified to find period blood stains on the bedsheet, clearly left behind by the previous occupant. This absolutely revolting discovery made it clear that the hotel had not changed the bedding between guests, despite their assurances. It’s one thing to overlook a small detail, but failing to change the sheets—especially when they are visibly soiled—is inexcusable and utterly disgusting. This incident not only ruined my stay but also raised serious concerns about the hotel’s overall cleanliness and the health risks it poses to its guests. If this is the level of care they take with something as basic as changing the bed linens, it makes me wonder what other corners they are cutting in terms of cleanliness and sanitation. I strongly urge anyone considering a stay at Ibis to reconsider. A clean bed is the bare minimum one should expect from any hotel, and if they can’t even meet that standard, they don’t deserve your business. I will certainly never be returning and will advise others to steer clear of this establishment.
