Smart Hotel Budapest & Apartments

Very clean hotel, our room was lovely, the lights are very fancy, bathroom is clean and fresh too! Out of the way of the main centre which we liked, but equally about a 25 minute walk and a bus service literally outside so good location in our opinion. All staff were helpful. Our room was very stuffy so they happily gave us a fan. We were gifted a bottle of wine which I was very appreciative of and it was a lovely bottle of wine too! Self check in system did work well! Hotel is lovely to look at, the bike on the wall is very eye catching. Very nice decoration all around. However…Room temperature only goes down to 20C which isn’t really too cool in the summer! Walls are extremely thin you can literally hear anything and everything that is happening. We could hear a bag being opened from our room, and glasses being put away as we were right opposite the bar! Breakfast is absolutely atrocious we had bed and breakfast we literally went down 2 days out of our 4 days stay. It had all been sitting there for ages, minimal taste and very limited options. Even the coffee wasn’t nice. Rooms just seem to be kind of placed wherever. Right outside the bar, right outside the breakfast bar. Just seems a strange set up. Stated to have a winery- of which is a lie, it’s just a bar that sells wine. We booked through third party and I had tried to contact the hotel in advance of our stay as I had a few questions they didn’t even respond to me. I had to contact the travel agent to even get a response. Even then we didn’t get a response only the travel agent could contact the hotel until 1 week before where we received the check in details but no response to the other enquiries. (This was a generated email). We were arriving early hours of the morning and were told to contact the hotel prior to this for the self check in code. Even with this in mind they didn’t respond to us and were awkward to give the code, but then just a few hours sent it. Which caused unnecessary stress prior to our holiday.

Lovely staff, very helpful! Extremely clean. Breakfast was gorgeous and slightly different every morning! Only issue was the bed wasn’t hugely comfy and it got quite stuffy in rooms without windows at night so it was a little difficult to sleep. However it still gets 5 stars from us! Really enjoyed the stay!

Our family of 4 from Australia (2 adults, 2 teenagers) just finished a 4 night stay at the incredible Smart Hotel in Budapest. Located in the heart of District VII, the Smart Hotel is set back from the street and located behind a cute little city park with a playground and across from a small supermarket. The hotel is very conveniently located for public transport - metro, bus and trolley bus options are only a short walk away. We stayed in the Grand Superior Apartment, which is in a separate building directly next door to the hotel. The foyer and elevator in this separate building are not much to look at. But the apartment - located on level 3 of the building - more than makes up for it! The Grand Superior Apartment was amazing. It was incredibly spacious with high ceilings, 2 large bedrooms, each with televisions and a small sitting area inside. There was a large bathroom and a second, separate toilet. There was a galley kitchen with a washing machine. There were 2 other lovely areas to sit and relax and, to top it all off, there was also a separate lounge area with its own TV, a balcony and a sofa/ couch that we had made up into an extra bed. The apartment was beautifully decorated (see the pictures of the artwork and of the feature wine wall inside the apartment!) and had smart technology via a screen to adjust the lighting, open and close the shutters, and request cleaning or fresh towels. The main hotel building itself was super cool. There was a lovely lounge area just off the foyer and the elevator (which takes you to the hotel’s restaurant) was surrounded on three sides by glass walls with bottles of wine on racks behind them. The owners of the hotel also own a winery and references to their wine were evident throughout. The breakfast buffet is in the restaurant. There was a small hot food section, and a wide variety of dairy and continental items plus a coffee machine and juices. This was included in our room rate. The Smart Hotel staff were friendly, polite and very helpful, giving us many excellent suggestions of places to see and restaurants in Budapest. We highly, highly recommend this accommodation for your stay in the beautiful city of Budapest.

Travelled as a solo female. Hotel is in a great location to explore the city. Just outside they have the city bike hire which was a great way to get around and cheap! The hotel staff were really helpful and thoughtful. It was my birthday while I was here and they left me a present. Room was lovely with a great shower. Nice breakfast included. Would definitely recommend to stay here :)

Had a great stay here with my fiance and baby. Made to feel very welcome. Great location 15 mins from the center, free use of the steam room and sauna. Big tvs in the room 60inch at least. Staff are very happy and helpful. Cool control panel on the wall to control everything in the room from lights to heating. Really is a smart Hotel. Would be great for solo, couples and mates to stay

Travelled worldwide and this is one of the nicest and quirkiest hotel I’ve stayed at, I think the picture speak for themselves. Electronic control panel is very cool! It’s not quite in the city centre but not far out. Breakfast very nice too.

Avoid at all cost. We were given the alleged disability friendly rooms that were lacking natural light, no windows ?! adequate ventilation and the rooms stunk of mould . This is a place where you can’t even sleep the beds are rock hard and breakfast is served in the underground basement. A place only for people who are never at the hotel.

Advantages: - Very polite and nice stuff - Great WiFi connection (speed was about 150 Mbit/s) - Good location near the city center, 1 minute on foot to bus/trolleybus stop, 5 minute on foot to metro station, 10 minute on foot to tram stop; grocery shop just near the hotel; No issues with shops/shopping malls, cafes, and attractions in vicinity - Modern interier and facilities, spacious shower stall - Breakfast is ok - Room cleaning is done every day Drawbacks: - Breakfast assortment is small and without variety (there was the same breakfast for the whole week of our stay) - Cleaning is more a formality than really trying to make the room clean - All this "smart" stuff (like managing the room facilities via the tablet) is just a gimmick - There is no pool or jacuzzi in sauna - The room WINDOWS COULDN'T BE OPENED (even slightly). Also be aware that if you don't select a Superior Room, you risk of not having any windows in your room at all! - There is NO VENTILATION in the room. It was hard for me to breathe and I felt just suffocating. There was a huge desire to open the window (but you can't). - There is NO AIR CONDITIONING in the room. The personnel claimed that they use something like "wall cooling" instead of usual AC, but either it didn't work in our room or the system is so inferior to conventional cooling that the effect wasn't felt by us. The temperature sensor in the room was showing 25-26 degrees and cooling system was set to 20 degrees (the minimum) - that setup didn't have any effect at all, it was just terribly hot and stifling in the room. That fact together with the lack of ventilation is the main and fatal drawback of this hotel - After our multiple complaints about not-livable room conditions we were moved to another "room" but it was not like a hotel room but just some apartment in quite old condition (definitely not a 4-star level conditions), but it had openable windows and it was always cool in there (thank god!)

Value for money! Very good standard and nicely decorated rooms. Clean and a fresch feeling all around the hotel. Good location and quite surroundings. Fabolous breakfast Friendly staff Ticks all the boxes Highly recommended!
