Strongly recommend this beautiful old Cotswold inn. Wr were welcomed very warmly and were all impressed by excellent meals in a truly historic setting. Beautiful log fires and armchairs and authentic hospitality. Most of all we will remember the simply exceptional friendliness and outstanding service of the whole teal led so ably by Jessica.

Staying in an old historic hotel was our primary goal, and The Lamb Inn, located in the village of Burford, in The Cotswolds proved to be perfect. If you plan to stay here, remember that this is not a modern five star hotel, but when it opened, I’m certain that it was. The route to our room took us through several period sitting rooms that were so inviting, we felt very much at home. The staircase to our room was a bit of a challenge with modern luggage, but once we arrived, it was well worth it. Our room had several windows overlooking a beautiful interior courtyard. Looking at the windows, reaffirmed that we had traveled back in time. The only upgrade that was not included in this ample spaced room was air conditioning. But even in August, this was not an issue, with a nice flow of fresh air through the windows. The only downside, if it even was, is that we learned that the seagulls awake at 5:00am.

We stayed in the Allium Suite for three nights in October for my partners birthday, he is 6'6" so needed a room with a king sized bed and a shower he could fit under. I choose this hotel based on location and prior reviews. We were not disappointed. Our suite was a delight, breakfast was high quality and supper was stunning with a world class wine list. Prior to arrival, I made a special request for our first evening in the restaurant, which was confirmed ahead of time and did not disappoint. We found a convenient parking space each evening right outside the hotel without the need to use their sister hotels parking facility. The Lamb Inn has a beautiful garden and has an old world charm, cozy fires, great service and staff give you a sense of belonging, nothing is too much trouble. We are well travelled people. If something is "off" we call it out. We ate there every night because it was so good! We went to Clarkson's Farm, Clarkson's Pub, Burford Garden Centre (this was incredible on every single level), The Royal Oak Pub (on Whitney Street, they serve Wadsworth Bitter), fantastic barman and great prices. He recommended the Carpenters Arms in Fulbrook. We had a stunning lunch there and beyond fantastic service. We walked to the top of the high Street and took our time walking down the hill, took in the river Windrush by the Priory, which was a delight and took a left after the river to find the Carpenters Arms. We popped into the Burford Museum on the corner of Sheep Street which was really interesting. The countryside is beautiful; the people are sincere, interested and interesting.

We are from Australia and when we visit the UK we invariably try to fit in a short stay at the Lamb Inn. Although it is on the pricey side, we find we are never disappointed. The common areas are very welcoming and full of character. The general, old world ambiance and decor of the Lamb is lovely. The bedrooms are characterful and well presented and the breakfast and dinner are always delicious. The staff are pleasant and go out of their way to be helpful. All in all we love staying there.

Without doubt a beautiful Cotswold stone pub, the bar is brilliant. Unfortunately we were put in the restaurant, which is a bit soulless. We ordered 2 Roast Beef Sunday lunches. It was a bit underwhelming. 2 roast potatoes that were undercooked and very hard, a tiny amount of cauliflower cheese, small amount of cabbage and some rather chewy beef, Yorkshire was overdone. The gravy was the best component, it was delicious. Great building, mediocre roast which took ages to appear. Rather disappointing

Lovely traditional pub going from 1700s with history back to 1400s. We had a very small ground floor room overlooking the central courtyard, but well equipped. Burford is a lovely, if touristy, Cotswold village with its road being very busy at times. We visited in Sep on a wet night, but had the weather been better, the table and chairs in the courtyard just outside our bedroom window (see photo) may have proved an issue with the bar being open until 11pm Evening dinner was good (duo of pork) although service was a bit patchy. Breakfast wasn’t great considering the overnight cost of £220. One sausage, one small mushroom, tomato were all just about warm. Cheap streaky (heavily smoked) bacon. Poor service from very young staff who needed direction. Kept disappearing and made errors in the order. Seemed to like being in the kitchen. Used tables slow to clear. Overall a lovely village to stay in, but this pub/ B&B needs to do better for the prices it charges

£18 for a glass of red wine. Buyer beware. Not impressed with how my surprise was handled (too late to change by pouring it back into the bottle, didn't I know it was illegal to do that, head office set the prices....). I really can't be bothered with people and/or establishments who can't be sympathetic/polite. So not going back - and successfully talked a group of friends out of going there as a result, so now feel mildly satisfied

We had a 2 night satay here for our anniversary. Stayed in Tolsey room. A good sized room with a super comfy super king sized bed. Loved the Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was very average. We had the full English both days. Apart from two very thin slices of streaky bacon the rest was just ok. Had there been a better selection of fresh fruit I would have preferred that option. However it was very poor. Meal in the restaurant was ok. Small portions. That is about all I have to say regarding food. However, the biggest disappointment was housekeeping. This was where they fell down. On returning from our day out the bed had been made. That is all. Tea and coffee mugs were left unwashed as were glasses. Neither bins had been emptied but the most disappointing was the towels we had left on the floor as both had been used the night before and that morning were hung back up on the towel rail and were still wet when we got in. Reception apologised and took £20 off the bill. Overall, a great spot in the village central to shops and eateries. The Lamb is a lovely Inn but they do need to up their game on things that matter to travellers. We felt it was overpriced at £410 for 2 nights.
