Our stay in the Midtown was fine. We were a bit worried since it was our first night in Cairo and considering that the surrounding city streets are dark and busy it was reassuring when we met Mahmoud the owner. Firstly, he reached out via Whatsapp to ensure we’d a taxi or tours, we’d already prebooked these but he was the only hotel owner who was upfront and straight with no hassle on the tours. This is nice because during the trip the guides sometimes went overboard trying to sell tours to you, Mahmoud has respect and patience. The access is via 4 flights of stairs or an elevator which looks broken but works perfectly fine. Mahmoud welcomed us, did the passports and showed us to the room in good time, no waiting around. The room was: fine, clean and quiet. Bathroom had toilet paper and hot water, only thing we’d to ask for was a hair dryer and towels but the other hotels always seem to have these upon request only too. The wifi had extenders but seemed to be weak, a recurrent issue we had in our other hotels. The WE mobile network from the sims we bought in airport was better. Mahmoud checked if we wanted tours which was good. Breakfast in morning was fine, eggs, bread and falafel. Nothing dissimilar from the rest of the hotels. A bit slower than usual from the staff to get the breakfast, but when it came it was good. Finally on check out day we’d an early start and the guy was helpful, wanted to check the room but didn’t keep us waiting. Overall, I’m quiet happy we stayed here and would give 4/5, as it was good value for money. You’re not paying for the Ritz Carlton here, Mahmound seems to be an honest guy doing an honest days work and that made our trip better. Improvement Tip: I think there should be a Wifi booster in every room.,quicker coffee and cleaner staircase.
