More Fawlty Towers than Capital Tower. The online photos certainly don’t match the reality of what you get. We had booked a two-bedroom apartment, but upon arrival, it was clear the space was in desperate need of refurbishment. The apartment was musty, with marked walls and a layout that felt poorly thought out—more like a storage room than a living space. However, the gentleman at reception was very helpful, showing us a few alternative rooms. The alternative room we chose had a lake view instead of the construction site on the “city side.” The receptionist did mention the tower was undergoing changes and improvements, which is certainly needed. The lifts, for example, felt unreliable, and the recorded voice sounded muffled, as though it hadn’t been updated in decades. There’s a gym in the basement, but it feels stuck in the 1980s with outdated equipment in desperate need of a refit. On the third day, we were disturbed by loud banging from the apartment above, where it sounded like furniture was being rearranged non-stop. When we raised this with reception, the female staff member was less accommodating, treating our complaint as an inconvenience, though she did say she would follow up with the noisy guests. Overall, the stay was very disappointing, and I would definitely advise others to steer clear until substantial improvements are made.
