Villa Alto Boutique Hotel

The location is amazingly located with beautiful views. For the rainy days it is super comfy to just hangout in the beautiful house and it's spacious living room. The fact is has to be absolutely highlighted!! The breakfast and dinner ist outstanding quality and for the prices just incomparable. The stuff is super nice and supportive. A perfect hide away experience! Thank you!

Villa Alto was the perfect choice for my work-cation. The staff is absolutely incredible. Your room is cleaned daily, the managers are extremely helpful, and you have a private chef. Between the sweeping mountain & ocean views and the community aspect of staying at the hotel, this booking is a no-brainer for you. There is no wifi in the rooms to encourage meeting your fellow guests. I am from the US and I met people from multiple different countries. The breakfast in the dining room is absolutely to die for. The wide selection of items is sure to please even the pickiest of eaters. In the summertime, you can enjoy a drink the pool. The sunsets here are also breath taking. I will be booking again!

We took it for our last two nights to relax and enjoy stunning ocean views from the pool and the balcony. We spent one whole day doing nothing but swimming, having sauna, drinks and the dinner at Villa Alta and it was simply fantastic. After 5 days driving around the island it was really nice to laid back over there and doing nothing but relaxing. The villa is charming and has a character, every room there has its own style, whether it is bar, main lounge with chimney, restaurant or your own room. It makes you want to spend some time in each area and feel the atmosphere. There is a honesty bar where you serve yourself with local drinks and leave notes what you consumed. Basically, the whole idea is built on trust, so you can feel like you stay at your own house. It is simply cool, I wish there would be more hotels like this. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, ladies helped us to feel maximum comfort and were very attentive to our requests. Breakfast is reach and tasty, every day they offer something new, which is good. You can book dinner in advance as well, there is a menu for every day so you can decide whether you dine there or going somewhere else. Dinner is simple but tasty, we were satisfied. We would be happy to come back one day and experience the highest hospitality and kindness of the people working there for you. We had a great time, thank you, Villa Alto! In our room was a carpet which I would throw away as it has stains and dirty spots, it ruins a bit an impression of a room in general which is stylish and has a character of old times. Jacuzzi in the pool area was out of the order. We called the phone given at the reception and on the webpage 4 times during the day and only on 5th time somebody answered later in the evening. Do not wait that somebody will come down to the reception if you ring the bell, ladies have lots of work and simply cannot come immediately, better go and find them, it will be faster. Getting there is not the easiest way but it worth it after all, roads are quite steep, so you better be careful, not driving too fast. Parking is small and requires some skills to getting in and out. Maybe easier to leave your car outside. Best way to rent a car with automatic gear, yes, you pay more but trust me, it will save you so much nerves driving at Madeira. It will pay off in the end. We stayed at Villa Alto for three nights. The hotel is located quite up on hill from Ponta da Sol. Our junior suite had perfect view, room itself was spacious and clean. Breakfast was good and service was excellent. Poolside had also great views, in February we didnt swim tho. Beautiful Madeiran Quinta, recommended!

We reserveerden een verblijf (appartementje) voor 2 weken via Airb&b. Het ontbijt was inbegrepen in de prijs. Wat heel positief was: De locatie villa Alto, met goede bewegwijzering er naartoe (zo vermijd je met Waze op het laatst een zeer steile weg). Vanuit het verblijf een prachtig uitzicht over het dal en de oceaan. Zeer mooie, gezellige gemeenschappelijke zitruimte met een bar waar je jezelf kan bedienen en op een blad moet noteren wat je consumeert. Ook een zeer gezellige eetzaal met een heerlijk ontbijtbuffet en ook ’s avonds een lekker diner. Jammer genoeg was de keuken voor het diner na enkele dagen plots gesloten en kon er dus geen diner meer gereserveerd worden. Het ontbijtbuffet bleef wel heel uitgebreid en lekker. Fruit was gratis en steeds beschikbaar. Wat we minder positief vonden: 1. Ons verblijf (nr.10) De woonkamer was zeer donker. Een bijzonder kleine en ondermaats uitgerust keukentje waarvan de kookwand ontzettend vuil was. De vriezer van de oude koelkast was bij aankomst helemaal aangeladen. Van het oud elektrisch kookvuur werkte 1 kookplaat niet. (we kregen daags nadien een extra elektrische kookplaat). Ook veel last van mieren in de keuken. De rest van het verblijf was wel heel netjes maar verouderd. Zeker ook de badkamer (vooral het bad, waar je het water niet kon laten weglopen wegens defecte draaiknop om badstop te openen). Onze woonkamer (nr 10) was bijzonder donker. De bedden daarentegen waren zeer comfortabel, met twee soorten kussens (hardere en zachtere) beschikbaar. 2. Aan het zwembad stonden veel versleten en defecte ligstoelen die 1 week na melding wel vervangen werden door nieuwe. Ook de parasolvoeten konden niet meer gebruikt worden waardoor de parasols met elektriciteitsdraad primitief aan de ballustrade werden vastgebonden. Gevolg: je kon de parasols niet meeer verplaatsen en 's namiddags niet meer in de schaduw van een parasol zitten. Waarschijnlijk is er ook ergens een lek in het zwembad want het waterpeil stond erg laag, ondanks dat er regelmatig water werd bijgevuld. 's Morgens en 's avonds ook ontzettend veel blaffende honden in de buurt wat de rust toch wel verstoorde. Kortom: dit verblijf kan best een opfrisbeurt gebruiken.

Chambre beaucoup plus petite que sur le descriptif. Hôtel en rénovation lors de notre passage. Literie d’une qualité médiocre (planche métallique en guise de sommier). Résultat : un terrible lumbago pour mon mari qui nous a gâché le reste de notre séjour !!! Manque de propreté des lieux (cheveux d’autres occupants dans la salle de bain, poussières et toiles d’araignées dans les espaces communs). La salle de bain est vétuste. La cuve de la toilette était fendue. De l’eau s’écoulait après chaque chasse. Bien que remplacée rapidement, de l’eau perlait encore de la cuvette. Le « jardin-potager » est un vrai dépotoir ( déchets, vêtements, détritus en tout genre). L’odeur dans le restaurant à certains moments (soirée) ne donnait pas envie d’y rester. Le wifi n’est disponible que dans certains espaces communs et la couverture ne permet pas d’utiliser sa 4G personnelle. Peu de présence à l’accueil. Seuls points positifs : la vue en général et la diversité dans le petit déjeuner.
