Ouvane Falls

It was stunning scenery. The family room was great and nice and clean. Wow the breakfast was to die for. The staff were lovely and friendly. When I'm that way again I most definitely will book there

There was a huge crowd (we found out it was a wedding) and a VERY noisy singer so we couldn’t even get ourselves heard when we tried to book in. We were taken elsewhere for check-in but rather than have a professional looking pre-printed form, the girl we spoke to wrote down a series of questions on a piece of paper. Not a good start. “We might be able to do food” was the response when asked about eating in the restaurant. The wedding party obviously had the food and a shrug of the shoulders was all we got when we said it was advertised as a restaurant. We went to Seaview House (just round the corner) for a lovely meal. If they can’t provide food with an ongoing event in the evening then they shouldn't book rooms out assuming people don’t want food. There was nowhere to put toiletries as there was no shelf in the bathroom. They were in a small tray on top of the toilet. The carpets both up the stairs and in the room badly needed extra cleaning or replacing. The wardrobe was missing a door or else it wasn’t designed for a door. The wi-fi wasn’t working properly. You could connect in the room (Topfloor) but in the dining room there was no connection, even though the “Dining” network was available The open window had a huge cobweb over it. The window area had bare plaster where the paint had flaked off. The small pillow (singular) was paper thin and certainly nowhere near white. The “towel” for the shower was postcard size and was best used for standing on. There was nowhere to hang clothes in the bathroom so you had to leave them on the floor outside. There were no curtains on the window so people could walk on the public terrace and see straight into the room The bathroom door really creaked like mad, great when you wake your wife in the night. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken The double socket was almost down to the level of the worktop so we couldn’t plug a hair dryer in. The beds were good though, as was the breakfast. Our room had a great view along with a great view of the falls and a lovely terrace area, it’s a pity that the hotel can’t match it and needs money being spent on it. This was zero value for money and at €120 a night I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone until numerous changes are made, which is a pity as it could be great. €60 for the room and €60 for the view is the best I could comment on.

This is supposedly a three star hotel, but I have stayed in much better two stars. The location is good and the view of the river is nice, but it is very scruffy and grubby in areas. The room was a reasonable size, but the bed did not feel very comfortable. We had a nice view, but it was quite noisy as we could hear voices quite a lot from possibly the room next door. The bathroom size was okay, but there was nowhere to put wash bags or toiletries. I had to put them in the shelving unit outside of the bathroom. The shower was over the bath. The tiling on the walls looks like it has been done quite recently but the grouting all along the edge of the bath is in a very bad way and needs attention. There was also a large greasy hand mark on the wall above the bed that was easily visible in certain light. The bedroom was not serviced on the day in between our two nights there. We don’t mind this but we weren’t told so we weren’t quite sure whether it was going to happen or not. The bins did get rather full. There was no decaf coffee available for the room even though it is available at breakfast. This was the first hotel in 10 on this holiday that we have not been able to get it. The public areas are very, scruffy and grubby looking. All it was take on stairs would be a coat of paint on the banisters and some repair work to the wooden knob at the bottom and that would help. The carpets looked quite dirty as well. See photos. Breakfast was reasonable and there was quite a bit of choice. However, things were all served in a slightly random order. We asked for our bacon to be very well done, but it was extremely under done. It would be helpful if sauces etc were kept at the table rather than having to keep asking for them. The staff on the whole were friendly and helpful. Interestingly all the other hotels I have booked on this tour offered a 100% refund a few days before the day if necessary. This hotel only offers 50% regardless of the reason or timeframe.

Stayed here with a group cycling the Tour De Bera. Could not have been more happy with the friendly atmosphere and great food &drink. Nothing was a problem, even the 6:30am breakfast prior to the cycle. Great views from the terrace and very well located for touring the area.

We visited the restaurant for dinner on holidays and all I can say is I wish we hadn't. The customer service from the staff was some of the poorest I've ever experienced. We were met with a very unwelcoming manner from the young girl working and We have a 18 month old baby so asked if they had a kids menu to which she said no and all they could do is half portions of the menu items. Once we had ordered, another group come in and were offered a kids menu! I ordered calamari, chips and salad. It's a pub meal so you aren't expecting anything too extravagant but it was 5 calamari, the smallest portion of chips (I'd say about 10 chips) and some rocket leaves. At a price of around 16 it was totally not worth it! I would never visit again and would definitely not recommend which is a shame as it is in a beautiful location.

When we arrived, the outside appearance did not bode well, however, once inside we were greeted by a very nice young lady who showed us to our rooms. We both had rooms with stunning views over the falls, very clean, tidy, comfortable and warm. The food was really lovely, although not too great a choice for a veggie, however, John was really friendly and entertaining! There was a young man singing and playing guitar the first evening, he was really good and we joined in! Breakfast in the morning was again a wee bit disappointing for a veggie, great for carnivores though! John's service again was really great, giving out ideas of where to visit etc. Our meal the next evening was also very good and then we had the experience of a lot of older people descending into the pub. What a night!!! The couples were Irish dancing and we were really exhausted just watching them, they never really sat down! We were asked to join in, we would not have been able to keep up with them all! Our relatives went up to bed and we stayed down to watch them, however, we had to call it a day and they were all still going!!! They did not even make a noise when leaving! Breakfast again in the morning was good and John very attentive. The only one niggle we had, was a dog barking in the room next to our relatives room, which did disturb them a wee bit. This was one of our favourite hotels during our stay in Ireland and would definitely stay again.

Honestly, we have been so happy with our experience here that we plan to stay here again. We and our dogs have been welcomed and treated like family. The food, drinks and entertainment are wonderful. Definitely coming back for a longer stay. 🌞

Stayed here with a group of friends. Place could not have been nicer, staff were extremely helpful and food was amazing. Recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay down here. Will definitely be back.

Die Lage an der Mündung des Ouvane River in die Bantry Bay ist sehr schön, das Hotel braucht aber eine Generalüberholung. Die Gänge und unser Zimmer sahen abgewohnt, speckig und die Böden schmutzig aus. Das Bett war ganz ok, im Bad durfte man nicht zu genau hinsehen… Wir hatten ein Zimmer zum Wasser hin bekommen, unglücklicherweise aber über der Bar und der Barterrasse (Rauchertreff). Da war in einer Nacht zum Sonntag bis 2.30 Uhr Party, an Schlafen bis dahin nicht wirklich zu denken. Als ich das morgens reklamierte, hieß es kurz „sorry, haben wohl nicht an die Lautstärke gedacht“. Wenn man keine Übernachtungsgäste hätte in Ordnung, so aber inakzeptabel. Inkludiertes Frühstück war im letzten Drittel der Skala, der Bacon schmeckte nicht mehr astrein.
