This is a village pub which does rooms and, like many country pubs, does really great food. I had had a terrific Sunday lunch here before I booked into their B&B and I have now stayed there a number of times. Although they call it a B&B rather than a hotel, the rooms are equipped to the standard of a budget hotel chain (spare pillows in the room, tea, coffee and fancy biscuits, TV with Freeview, comfortable mattress etc) but the room rate includes a breakfast sourced to the same high standard as the rest of their menu. There is, of course, a full English with sausages that clearly come from a local butcher, but also all the other options we have come to expect nowadays of a good breakfast menu such as smashed avocado on toast and vegetarian and vegan options. It's all cooked to order - only the cereals, fruit juices etc are on a self-serve buffet. If I had to find something they could improve on, it would be that the breakfast service can be a little slow if a number of people come down at the same time, but not to the point that it is problematic. Also, as a woman travelling alone, I would appreciate it if staff could make some gesture to let me know they have noticed me when I arrive at pub to check in or come down for breakfast. I know they know I'm there, but a quick smile or nod would stop me from feeling invisible as they busltle around me.
