The Grove Cromer

Very disappointed with my room here. The chair in my room barely had any fabric remaining on it, it was so worn down. Bathroom was aged with fittings feeling and dust on surfaces. The mattress on my bed (in a tiny box room) was so aged that it caved to one side and made for a terrible night’s sleep. A similar story in the dining room - many of the chairs had collapsed in the middle, and they were also of different heights, meaning you were often sitting at a different level to the people you were eating with! This hotel advertises itself as 4 stars however this is in no way a 4 star hotel. It needs a lot of work to bring it up to that standard.

We went to the Sundowner for my birthday 🎂 with friends. Whilst it was lovely and warm in the tee pee. We were very disappointed with the food. We ordered the tapas menu, and we were told the crab was unavailable, which was fine. We ordered the morrocan lamb flat bread, it came out on a plate with a square price of bread piled up with chicken pieces in very spicy sauce, it was soo hot 🔥 🥵. The waiter told us it was chicken in a madras sauce, what happened to the morrocan flat bread. I understand it was the last night of opening but surely the same service should be provided. Very disappointed. One ticket off the last, note don't go again.

As soon as you make your way up the drive and see the twinkling lights in the grounds you know this is a special place. Our room was very clean and comfortable. From being checked in to leaving the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food is amazing, highly recommend the Parmesan foam and pear as a starter and Venison and chorizo stew for main. The breakfast is all freshly cooked and was delicious. One hint, book early so you can have a choice of time to use the pool, we could only have 9.45 after dinner and 11am the next day which we did not use as we did not feel like it after a big dinner and rooms had to be vacated by 10am. Had a lovely walk through the woods to the beach. Will definitely book again.

Really enjoyed our stay. The service was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was absolutely lovely, we had dinner and breakfast. We will definitely return at some point.

We booked a table at the Grove Restaurant last week to celebrate a family birthday. As we were all staying at the Cromer Country club, also on Overstrand Road, we walked to The Grove. The lighting coming off the main road, up the drive to the Grove is very poor. Having avoided bumping into a flower urn which was difficult to see in the gloom, I then tripped over a long narrow raised bed, partly hidden by leaves. I fell really badly and by the time I got to the front door was in a state of shock. One member of staff was very kind and brought me an ice pack and my daughter filled in an accident report. This completely spoilt the party atmosphere, especially as we were placed in a large room on our own, with scant heating. Whilst the staff were empathetic I was not even offered a complimentary drink or any gesture of goodwill. The meal was good but difficult for me to enjoy as my wrists were becoming bruised and swollen. I went to the excellent Minor Injuries unit at Cromer Hospital the next day. Luckily the x-rays showed nothing was broken but I was given a splint and told to rest my wrists. I wrote a letter of complaint to the Grove who admitted "The front of the drive is quite a complicated area to light, especially during the autumn under the trees". Needless to say this incident would put me off recommending The Grove. My accident could have been avoided if solar lighting had been placed in the raised flower bed or it had been painted white, not black.

Had another fantastic stay in Cromer at the Grove. The cottages are perfect for our needs and so close to so many great dog walks. They are so perfectly located for the Norfolk Coast path as well as lots of inland circular walks. As aways staff at the hotel are super helpful, flexible and friendly. We will be back again. If they'll have us!

A super hotel on the edge of Cromer. I stayed with my mum and we had a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and the food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner. It's in a super location and has a lovely pool. Very nicely appointed rooms and a comfortable lounge. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Lovely hotel and the room was a small standard room but very comfortable and large enough for two. The food was very nice too. The only thing I made the mistake with was to book through booking. Com so breakfast was not included. Had we booked direct then breakfast would have been included in the price. Please click on one of the sites below

Had an afternoon tea voucher and my friend is Vegan so enquired first if it was possible to have 2 different types, vegan choice is not always very good. In this case both teas were tasty and delicious. The service was very nice, we were offered a choice of places to sit. It's very popular and I can see why. At the end you get the beautiful jasmine tea served in a glass. I didn't know anything about the Grove but I would certainly go back.
