Great food, great service, great room and excellent atmosphere. Would highly recommend this place if your staying in Devizes

Fantastic location right in the centre of Devizes. On entrance no offer to carry bags upstairs and no lift available. Room was quirky with great character but the great view the receptionist commented on at check in was directly into room 14!!!! Not quite what we were expecting so curtains remained closed all weekend. We did not eat here as all a bit pricey and poncy. Fab restaurants in and around the square. Room was comfortable enough and shower was lovely even if the controls were at the other end of the shower and you got wet just turning it on. Suited our needs for 2 nights just a shame no room service for food when classed as a hotel.

We have stayed at the Peppermill Hotel in Devizes several times and it never disappoints. What makes this hotel special is that each room has its own unique character and appeal. The owners have invested so much love and care in the design and beautiful soft furnishings. The restaurant is fabulous and they have an excellent wine list. Perfectly situated in the heart of Devizes across from the market place, it’s a real gem. The staff are really friendly and invested in making your stay/ dining experience a great one. Thank you

We stayed for two nights while walking in the area with some friends. Rooms were great, spacious and the air conditioning was very welcome. Spotlessly clean and bed comfortable. The snugs and sitting rooms were a nice touch as was the fresh milk in the fridge in the snug (although something to convey a small amount back to your room would have been nice). Friendly welcome. They were happy to store my husband’s bike safely. The breakfast was lovely, yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruit and nice service and a good choice of cooked options. We did eat in the restaurant and I have reviewed that separately as it wasn’t such a good experience. Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area, just not sure we would eat there in the evening. Only niggle would be that they charged my credit card when we checked in….booking confirmation said payment due at checkout, and as we were two couples we wanted to pay separately but weren’t given the choice. Not a big issue though.

Spotless rooms (6 and 16), great dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. Friendly staff from reception to the dining room. We have previosly stayed at the The Bear Hotel for our annual family re-union but will definately stay here in the future.

Travelling on business. Beautiful venue, rooms are spotless. Lovely comfy bed, fab bathroom. Breakfast is great. Evening meals are amazing. The staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much to ask. The weather was sub zero and the rooms were so toasty. Would love to visit again! Thankyou

Arrived, checked-in… room was.lovely- but very cold.. switched on the radiator and went out.. back in at midnight to find the room still freezing cold… no heating whatsoever… nice!! Worst nights sleep I’ve had for years- just right for a business meeting! Complained in the morning- as the heating came on around 7am… too late by then… reception offered the check it out… as I was checking out.. really?!?! No draught lager and not that great a service in the restaurant… food was amazing though- maybe get the Chef to manage the heating then! Remember to take your thermals and a hot water bottle… took me all day to warm up- hyperthermia anyone?!? Awful .. truly awful- there was two on us in two rooms… both felt the same way, painful with how much it cost … oh dear!

We stayed here for a week and would like to have stayed for a month. The rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable and super clean. Not the cheapest of places but, hey ho, you get what you pay for and the Peppermill is worth that little bit extra. In addition to the bedrooms, there are three comfortably furnished lounges where you can relax away from everything. Of course, staying at the Peppermill has the advantage of having a terrific restaurant just downstairs!

Stayed at this great place over the weekend, for a surprise family event. Stunning hotel and restaurant and staff to match. Very old, so lots of history but renovated to a top standard. We had Room 16, which was fantastic. So much room, elegance and very comfortable. Felt very relaxed during our stay. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday lunch and my girlfriend and I could not recommend it enough - quality chefs. We also had the event on the Sunday lunch and everything was very very good. Philip the owner was very accommodating and helpful with requests over the Surprise event as were all the staff, didn’t get everyone’s name, but thank you to Sam, Dan and special thanks to Tyler - GM in the making!!

If you ever have reason to stay in Devizes this is the best hotel by far. A beautifully decorated, quirky boutique hotel. Charming rooms and a variety of comfortable lounges. We were so well looked after, and felt at home here . Thank you to all the staff for making our stay at such a difficult time so welcoming and stress free.

Just back from an anniversary stay at the Peppermill Hotel in Devizes, we were lucky enough to be given the Bridal Suite (thank you!!) and it didn't disappoint, certainly has the wow factor. Main bedroom spacious with a huge four poster, beautiful oak furtiture and a settee to lounge on. Ensuite bathroom with brilliant walk in shower and standalone bath, all very good quality and we'll maintained. The suite (no. 7) is at the front of the hotel overlooking the road and market square to the left, secondary glazing ensures the room is quiet with A/C in case it's too warm. Overall a fab stay and a hotel we'd recommend. Restaurant reviewed seperately.

I travel most weeks with work and stay in some lovely hotels. I have to say that this is possibly the best, the attention to detail at the Peppermill is first class. The food is out of this world and well priced. I will definitely be coming back.

The food was excellent but the service was so slow ! The restaurant was less than half full so no excuse. I had spinach gnocchi ( more like patties ) on butternut squash purée with a creamy garlic sauce. It was delicious and I’d very happily eat it again. The service was very slow and not of a level you would expect in what is a fairly expensive restaurant.

Just had a fantastic stay at The Peppermill Hotel in Devises. The hotel is charming, the room was very comfortable and quiet with a well equipped shower and we particularly liked the body wash, conditioner and moisturiser which smelled lovely. The star of the show was the restaurant, the food was exceptional, comparable to a Michelin starred restaurant that we have recently dined at, and we could have chosen anything off the menu! We will be returning soon.
