Absolutely not worth it and not close to 5 stars, not even to 1 star.
Here are the factsd:
- The place is very run down and old. Some rooms smell like mold and others seem like they are falling apart. The corridors are always dark and they don’t turn on lights like in an abadoned building.
- No hot water. It took hours and no one could fix it
- The water in the shower and sink is salty. We had to to shower from a BUCKET to get fresh water. Seriously 5 stars?
- The food didn’t have much variety and it’s low quality.
- Super slow service and you have to beg them for stuff and they barely do the job. Example, we had to ask for towels 4 times and they didn’t even get the towels we asked for. It took us hours to get a sunbed and towels on the beach. We had to them beg the waiter for drinks but he kept ignoring us. We ended up bringing the drinks alone.
On the good side, some staff are very nice and helpful. The rooms are generally clean and insect free as they spray them with organic oils. Also, the rooms have an airconditioner which was great.
Our general take on Diani Beach:
Honestly not worth it at all. If you’re going for Safari, including a beach won’t add value to your trip and probably just make it frustrating.
- Prices in general are crazy for what it is and you can find much better beaches in other surrounding countries.
- What they call “beach boys” are everywhere, waiting for people to step into the beach to follow them trying to sell them stuff. You’ll be on your sunbed within the hotel boundaries and they are at the beach infront of you watching and waiting. Some are so demanding and will follow you around and try to act friendly just to sell you. Was an uncomfortable experience. So you better be mean and block them from the start.
