Radisson Hotel Duluth-Harborview

AVOID!! Our room was $285 a night yet still the hotel didn’t provide bathrobes or even slippers. The room was tiny and everything seemed old. Elevators are extremely slow and made terrifying sounds screaming for maintenance. The indoor pool is small and was packed with kids. There’s no indoor parking area for guests, so good luck finding a spot in the parking lot across the street. The Barbour view was nice, but you definitely won’t get what you pay for in this hotel.

I recently stayed at this hotel for an event and was disappointed by the overall condition and maintenance. Unfortunately, it fell far below my expectations based on previous stays in the greater Duluth area. While I’ll let the photos convey much of my experience, I’d like to highlight a few issues not shown: there were multiple hairs on both bed sheets, one sheet had a yellow stain, and visible water leak marks on the ceiling. The radiator appeared outdated and hadn’t been cleaned in years, and the elevators felt unstable, prompting concerns from fellow guests. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t consider returning and would rate it lower if possible.

Our room suited our needs perfectly. And the meals in the Harbor 360 were wonderful with excellent staff and view. No better way to see Duluth!

Radisson the brand should be embarrased with this hotel. Stains all over the hotel on carpet. Wall paper peeling all over hotel. Vending machines dont work. If you like to have your hotel room cleaned and restocked...nope they dont do that either.

The sheets in our room were dirty when we arrived. They provided clean sheets for us to put on. In general, the hotel and our room is dated and not well maintained. However, it was quiet and we slept well. I figured it would be loud since we saw high school students in the halls, but it was very quiet at night.

Room security was a chain on the door circa 1965. The a/c was so loud we turned it off so we could sleep. There were cob webs in the hallways. The glass screen in the lobby fireplace looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. Lastly, they service the rooms every FIVE days. You call the desk if you need towels or whatever. Never again.

This hotel is the oldest operating Radisson hotel. It was built in 1970 and you can easily find clues that show its age. It's a very iconic building and the rotating restaurant is a unique thing to experience, although the food (at least what I ordered) was very average, nothing to write home about, but also doesn't cost a fortune like many other hotel restaurants so that is ok. The rooms are nice and bright and clean, you can tell the renovation work really went into the rooms. Beds are very comfy, my room had an amazing view of Duluth harbor. Biggest issue I found to be the elevator. There are 2 elevators to service 15 floors of guests. So you often get stuck waiting for the elevator so long that you will contemplate taking the emergency stairs. I understand it is an old building and the way the tower is designed there really can only be 2 elevators so I don't really blame them for this. Its just a minor inconvenience. Parking was another issue, there are simply not enough parking spots for how many guests this building can accomadate. The lot fills up fast and then you are kind of just on your own. I was lucky enough to find a spot across the street from the nearby bowling alley. All-in-all, I had a good time, but the building is showing its age which is to be expected. Can't really blame Radisson for the passage of time. However, there are plenty of improvements to be made, and with the price tag youd think they could afford to make those improvements. Again, decent hotel, just temper your expectations before you judge it too harshly. The building is old and massive, the workers here are doing their best.

For the price, this hotel is extremely disappointing. No bathroom in the pool area or anywhere on the main floor. Exposed, rusty bolts at hot tub steps, caught my toe and nearly lost my nail. Pet-friendly room was clean and spacious. Close to activities. If we come back to the area, we will not stay at the Radisson.

We are travelling the Lake Superior Circle Route, and booked 2 nights at this hotel. The hotel itself is very dated, shabby, and dirty. You are greeted by filthy carpets, and dirty surfaces everywhere you look. We were booked into a room with king bed. The bed had dirty sheets, there was a straw wrapper on the heater, and the bathroom was very poorly cleaned. There were water stains on the ceiling. We had to trek back down 12 floors in a dirty elevator, to speak with front desk and obtain a new room. We were given another room, one floor below, only to discover the bedding in this room was covered in long black hairs. At this point we booked into the nearby Holiday Inn! Radisson charged our card 926 Cdn! Which was refunded the next day. Then they charged us a 350 Cdn. no show fee! Which I have just had to call to have removed. This is the 3rd time we have had an issue with a Choice Hotel. Having just left one in Thunder Bay, also with dirty sheets and bugs in the room. Prior to that, we had a disappointing experience with a Choice Hotel in Niagara Falls. We are quite happy with our room at the Holiday Inn, Duluth. And we received s much better rate of 560 U.S. for both nights. Significantly cheaper than Radisson, with much better service and cleanliness.
