Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbia East - Elkridge

This was our first time staying at this hotel and location as a team and it was a pleasant and comfortable place to stay. Well maintained area, Wi-Fi works well and all the hotel staff we encountered were professional and very kind towards us. The outside area is policed up well, no trash on the ground, which as a traveler I think says a lot about a place. Many times as a frequent traveler, it says a lot about the hotel grounds when you pull in and you see trash on the ground. Very well maintained area. Rooms are in good shape, beds are comfortable, showers have the dispensable bottles of shampoo and body wash, which it seems most hotels are going to now, seems convenient. The gentleman that checked us out opened the breakfast bar early for us, which was very nice. Lots of restaurants to choose from in this area. Thank you to the hotel team.

Check in was welcoming and quick. The mattress was wonderful!!! We were satisfied with the room. Breakfast included a wide variety of choices. The Check out procesz was also quick and pleasant. We were very pleased with these accommodations.

We've stayed at this hotel many times and always had a great experience. This is our to go place when we need a quick getaway. Location provides access to food of our choice. Staff is always great. Kids love the indoor pool and we just love to relax there.

My family reserved three rooms, and overall, our stay was fine. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, etc. Unfortunately, my experience was ruined at the very end. After checking out and on our way home, I realized I had left behind a garment that I had washed out in the sink and hung on the showerhead to dry. My husband, who is a diabetic, also left a vile of insulin in the mini-fridge. I got a bit of a runaround from the staff I spoke with, and I received different responses to my question about the policy regarding guest items left behind. I was told by a gentleman during my third call that he would call me back after speaking with the housekeeping supervisor. Nearly 4 hours later, no call. I then called back and was told simply that no one on the housekeeping staff found my garment. This leaves one of three possibilities - 1) no one including housekeeping has entered my room within 72 hrs of my checkout (not likely), 2) The garment was tossed when the room was cleaned (that is usually not a hotel's policy, as most have a lost and found), or 3) someone of the housekeeping staff liked my garment as much as I did and decided to keep it for themselves. Nevertheless, this unfortunate incident most definitely tarnished my experience and will undoubtedly factor into my decision to reserve another stay in the future. Lesson learned: Check, double-check, then triple-check your room, your safe under the bed, etc. The days of having an item inadvertently left behind in a hotel and having it returned to you appear to be over.

The hotel needs an update. The carpet is dirty and smells like a combination of wet socks and wet dogs. The bed was big and comfortable. The bathroom was OK. The breakfast was OK. The breakfast attendant was very nice and helpful. The staff was friendly and respectful.

It was the best offering for the price. Very clean and friendly staff. Will was an amazing front line customer service representative. The continental breakfast was perfect and the coffee was my favorite part of my hotel stay. Would recommend if you’re in town.

Perhaps it was just a one-off stay, but this was one of the most miserable hotel experiences I've ever had. To start, they put in a highway-facing room on the fourth floor. Upon entering the room, I was immediately greeted with loud road noises, including chopper-bikes and semis. I'm a light sleeper, so this was a no-go. I went down to the front desk and they happily changed my room -- cool. I went up to the second room, and again.. noise issue. This room was on the side facing away from the road, but unfortunately it had its own unique issues including the sound of a pump that would periodically turn on and off. I found out later it was a faulty fire system pump, and that the hotel was aware of it. Regardless, it was too loud to sleep through, so I again changed rooms... at 12:30 in the morning! So off to my third room (I had to move all of my stuff, and wake up at 5am by the way). I get into the room and this time no pump noise, but there was another low-level hum that filled the room. It was tolerable enough to sleep through, but I had to wear ear plugs. Needless to stay, this was a terrible stay, and I needed sleep. I can't tell if the hotel is just poorly managed, or poorly built (maybe both), but it should not be this way. A comfortable night's sleep in a quiet room is the bare minimum of what's expected, and this hotel failed. Adding to the noise issues above are the typically thin walls and flimsy floors, so if you have noisy neighbors (which I did), you will hear it. Avoid this hotel and go somewhere else. It's not worth it.

Linda needs to be put back thru training, she has no communication/hospitality skills whatsoever. I booked a room for my daughter and her friends on February 2nd for her birthday. I called the front desk that morning to make sure my daughter would be set up to enter the room when she arrived and was told all she needed was her Id, and to have me put her name on the room which I did. Upon entering the hotel my daughter was denied access to the room by whoever was at the front desk when she arrived. When I called the next day I explained the situation to Linda and was abruptly responded to in a sarcastic tone "well are you gonna give me a name or what sir?" Last time I checked it's the employee of the companies responsibility to gather any information needed from the guest after any situation is explained which Linda failed to do. On top of ALL of this, I was told not only by Linda but the representative on the 1-800-holiday number that I only booked for one night when I clearly booked for two, keep in mind not only was I charged for two nights but the hotel even sent me a confirmation email which stated that I paid for two nights. This might be one of the most unprofessional, frustrating situations I've ever had to deal with. I'm never staying at any holiday hotel again and it would behoove you to make the same choice.

My husband and son stayed there and had no hot water for their stay. They were provided partial compensation for this problem. We were given the general manager’s contact info to follow up. To date, I have left 2 emails and 4 phone messages for the general manager to call me. It has been two weeks with no response from the general manager. I would recommend staying somewhere if possible.
