What can I say about this experience? It was a truly 5 star. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. The servers were attentive, they adapted to whatever we needed, and even unpacked the car and put the skis away. As a family-owned hotel, you get a truly inviting experience, and this was very evident in all aspects of our stay. The food in the half-board option was amazing. Not only was it exquisitely prepared, the presentation delights foodies of all stripes. We were delighted with every course at every meal. They have a wine menu that is extensive and heavily focussed on Austrian wines, though other wines are available as well. The half board inlcudes an afternoon "snack" was a buffet with soups, salads, cheeses, meats and usually a hot offering. The breakfast was a full European breakfast with meats, cheeses, fish, breads, a variety of breads (of course) and drinks. We went there to ski, and it was truly ski-in/ski-out. If you did not want to make the run to the bottom, they were happy to take you to the gondola to the top, or back to the hotel if you wanted to ride down. They have a schedule of activities if you need a break from skiing, and day trips to Saltzburg, Innsbruck and Zell am See are easy (about 1.5 hrs driving time). After this, the spa is not to be missed. They have a heated roof-top pool where you could watch skiers and boarders coming down the piste, several different sauna experiences, and (our favorite) a salt room to refresh your lungs. This was undoubtedly the best ski hotel that we've stayed in. I'm confident that this would be delightful in other seasons as well.
