This hotel prides itself on being "friendly and more" and most of its staff are very friendly and helpful.. However, there are a number of basics lacking in the hotel. There is no air conditioning and even in early September temperatures got up to 30 celsius. There is no provision of tea and coffee facilities in the room, although I was told that they could be provided at an additional cost. There is no iron and ironing board. The bath towels are the smallest I have ever come across. On arrival one of the bedsheets was soiled with what looked like blood, but this was replaced quickly with apologies. All of these are minor and did not spoil our six-day stay. However, the man who appeared to be the manager of the dining room and it's staff was so unfriendly and rude to several people and this is totally inexcusable. He was rude to myself and my partner because I asked if I could have my chips/fries served without any salt being put on them. Since the salt was added after the fries/chips had been cooked, I did not see this was an unreasonable request. I was told that everybody in Austria had salt on their chips and he made it clear that my request was unreasonable. On another occasion residents on our dinner table complained that although the menu stated salmon, they were served pollack. The same man insisted , and rudely explained, incorrectly, that "pollack" was the German word for salmon. In addition three guests complained that the pollack was not fully cooked and tasted and smelt "off" and was inedible. His response to this was that he had had the same meal himself and that there was nothing wrong with it. No apologies, and no offering of an alternative meal were made. I consider his rudeness to have been totally inexcusable and not in keeping with the hotel's "friendly and more" claims. Table service for drinks was very good, however, later in the bar area there was often nobody available to serve drinks. The set evening meal, although four course, was generally disappointing. Obviously done on a low budget with few fresh vegetables - one day for example tinned carrots were served and were almost inedible. The breakfast each day consisted of a wide range of continental style cheeses, breads and meats, fruits and juices with some hot options . It was self service with no a la carte options but was very enjoyable. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.
