If you speak German as a foreign language, know you might get mocked at this hotel. Imagine you go for a croissant and overhear two employees laughing at the foreign guests because they spoke German as beginners. It happened to me, and my croissant lost its taste right then and there. One of the receptionists was also rude. Why it matters? It destroys the professionalism and good work of the other staff members. I believe the demeanour towards guests at this hotel has room for improvement.

I've stayed at a few Motel Ones and one thing they seem to get right is a consistent experience, which is just enough not to be low cost but also enough that you don't mess your budget up. I think anyone expecting space and luxury should look elsewhere, this hotel is designed for a place to sleep, get things done and get out there. The beds are comfortable, WiFi is on point, TV does what it needs to and the bathroom and bedroom space although small is adequate for a solo traveller, couples may struggle as it's a tight fit. It's also right on top of the city centre and not far from the train/bus station, breakfast is the usual European cold cuts with coffee/tea plus cereals, but local food is so nearby that you might want to opt for that instead, it can also get very busy on later breakfast times. I'd ignore a couple of reviewers here who only have posted 1 or 2 contributions and aren't regular users of TripAdvisor but other regular TA users have commended how good it is, of which I agree. I loved and enjoyed both my stays here, and it's comfortable and does the job. Consistent as always Motel One.

Once a reliable option it's gotten worse over the years. I've had a dirty bed with stains. Hygiene is a simple must have. Also won't recommend anyone the breakfast, for that money you get more over at the bakery just in front of the entrance. I've come many times but this was the last one.

Put simply, you literally don't get much for your money here. The rooms are tiny! If there are 2 of you, with bags, you will literally be falling over each other and climbing over bags and squeezing between the bed and the TV on the wall to get past. Not my thing at all. I might have expected such a small room in a big city, but Freiburg isn't exactly a thriving metropolis and short of space! Even breakfast was taken at the bar and sitting where ever you can find a chair, whether that is in the bar on a lounger, or on a rocker in the lobby. Not really comfortable and there was no hot food either. An expensive breakfast considering where you were eating it. The hotel also boasts parking, but there was none available when we got there and I couldn't even see how you drove in there, even if we could! You'd be driving round the block a few times and still won't see it?! Overall, this is a quirky use of space, but they have crammed a lot into this hotel and it simply didn't work for me. I just wanted to escape after a night in this place.

Pros - Location, Room(small but comfortable) Cons - The extremely rude and unprofessional service staff in the front desk. My money was stolen from the room’s safe. FROM THE SAFE. And the staff didn’t even bother apologising, leave alone compensating. Note to the management - Teach your staff on how to talk to guests. And replace the Safe in the room as any housekeeping staff could open and steal from it. I can’t stay there anymore because I’m afraid to keep my stuff in the room and go out peacefully.

Die Lage ist toll. Das Hotel und die Zimmer sind sauber und gut ausgestattet. Es hat alles was man braucht und ist zweckmässig eingerichtig. Gutes Frühstück. Es hat eine Bar mit toller Atmosphäre. Mit Glück und Geduld bekommt man auch etwas zu trinken.
