This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in anywhere. It's like stepping back in time. The room was a bit small, but it was just the two of us so it didn't matter. The bed was very comfortable and well appointed. The shower head system was a bit too complicated and there really wasn't enough pressure for all the different shower heads on it, but I was able to figure it out. Still I would have preferred a simpler shower head. The lobby, the bar, the pool...everything is beautiful and classy. The new renovations look great! Love, love LOVE this hotel!!!!

This place is absolutely beautiful. Everyone was crazy friendly, and helpful! The beds were a little stiff in our room. We went for some paranormal activity, but nothing happened unfortunately.

We were a guest who was fortunate enough to not stay in GRAND GALVEZ .But decided to dine in Monarch Restaurant after looking at the hotel review.The reservation was at 9 pm but we got there early about 8.45pm. We were greeted by a lady in the host stand. She offered a table option (banquet or a table) we took the banquet. We were seated there,I took a look around there was no one in the restaurant except us. It took 15 min for someone to comes to our table. My husband order for a bottle of rose wine. Which to my surprise the bottle was already open. I'm a hospitality professional too. So when the bottle was brought to me the label was already open. We were not even asked if we actually wanted still or sparking water. We were served two water. The rose was served to me as my husband was going drinking. My husband wanted lemon wedges which literally took 15min to get to table,Neither I was offered a taste before serving. Nevertheless the server asked if we need anything else. And we were ready to order. But she left and came back after a while. We order for the catch of day (Red Snapper for me and my husband opt for a grilled chicken). While we were waiting for the food to come. My husband noticed that the table was wobbling. We still ignore but the wobbling got worse. The server got our food we were so excited to try to food. The first bite I took what I saw was a prawn that was not deveined. I kept it aside. The grilled chicken was completely burnt out from the bottom and still it was served. We didn't wanted to make any scene so we started eating. The server came back to check if everything was fine. I did mention about the prawn. After a while she came back to two piece of prawn as complimentary. It so embarrassing as I expected at least a manager will come by so that I could asked for a table change as it was getting difficult to eat in a wobbling table. I never wanted a free or complimentary prawn. After a while the host came back to check we did mention about the table. To my surprise was she took a napkin asked my husband to push himself aside and stuffed a napkin underneath. It was so shocking that the whole restaurant was empty and we was not offered a alternative table. To my notice I could see that have set up the table for breakfast so I assume that any other was not available for us. It was so disappointing that we literally felt that the staff was treating us to be less capable of having to afford to eat the restaurant. To add up to all this we had flies in and around our table and fruit flies in and around our food too. To be honest I didn't wanted to take a single bite of the foot anymore. Myself and my husband left our food half done. After all this we wanted to just leave and asked for the check. The server did not even bother to check why we barely touch our food. The server and the lady who sat us brings us a cheese cake for my birthday and apologize for the inconvenience. It was evident that the restaurant close at 10.00p

The Grand Galvez is a beautiful and historic hotel. It is thinner than you would think. That means that All the rooms have either a city view or a Gulf beach view. The lobby and bar area were recently remodeled and it all looks great. The Room Service is THE BEST!

Extremely opulent. Imagine First Class passenger on the Titanic plus Great Gatsby plus Golden Age of Hollywood glam. White Lotus type celebrity fancy. Lovely service. Terrific pool that's even open till 11 pm. Very comfortable room. EXQUISITE view from the ocean view rooms. Beach umbrellas included for beach right across the street.

Grand hotel with a beautiful renovation …the best in Galveston. The property has every amenity and even has its own private beach with free chaise lounge chairs and umbrellas directly in front of the hotel. No other hotel in Galveston can offer this so this alone is my reason to return.

The Grand Galvez has been restored to a beautiful grand hotel inspired in the Great Gatsby period. We are a couple in our mid 40s/early 50s who travel a lot and spent 4 nights over the 4th of July 2024 weekend. The rooms are bright, fully renovated and freshly painted, comfortable beds, and pleasantly quiet. The common areas of the lobby, bar, restaurant and pool area are top notch decor and quality. We found all the staff were friendly and accommodating, from the front desk checkin to the maid service, valet team to the maintenance guy touching up scuffed corners in the hallway. The valet service ($35/day) was fairly quick and utilized a snappy text service to request for your vehicle - 5 to 10 minutes to get your car - although there is a self park garage across a side street for about $20/day. We took full advantage of the new Beach Club: a reserved section of the beach with umbrellas, 2 chaise lounges, towels, and a small side table, staffed by room service attendants ready to bring cold drinks and food. There's no fee, but it's first come first serve. We were surprised to have no problem getting an umbrella both days we went to the beach. We did a "ghost tour" of the Grand Galvez we found through Eventbrite. Hosted by Melissa, a longtime concierge at the Galvez and avid ghost historian. It was a 90 minute walking tour of the hotel filled with interesting stories about the history of the hotel and its famous friendly ghosts. Sadly, room 501 was occupied by a guest, but she had plenty of pictures of various sightings over the years. The tour cost $30 each, plus Eventbright fees, put the total about $75. The downside of our stay was related to rude guests all around. The pool area is rather small. A few guests brought a bluetooth speaker and played their loud hiphop, which clashed with the hotel's piped in cool beach vibe. A quick comment to the pool deck attendant resolved the issue (a placard of pool rules states no speakers allowed). There are not enough lounge chairs to accommodate the size of the hotel. There were tons of toddlers---a real irritant to couples and older families looking to enjoy the splendor of a grand hotel (the San Luis Resort and plenty of other "family friendly" hotel resorts dot Seawall Ave as a better alternative for young families). The rooms are small by today's standards. About 350 sq feet. There's a closet to hang about 8 pieces, and a small chest of drawers. The connector room doors are not soundproof-- an issue at every resort. During our stay there were no suites in service (they are on the 7th and 8th floors and have not been renovated). The restaurant served a good breakfast but they were sadly understaffed and seemed to struggle with the basics. The bussers seemed lost, and the more experienced staff had to do everything. And when the food arrives before the silverware rollups, it's an immediate turnoff. The hotel restaurant was pricey. We had two egg entrees, two coffees and one screwdriver (vodka/OJ

This is a grand and beautiful hotel. Its history and architecture are amazing. There was no single thing that generated this 4 star rating. Rather it was a list of small things that a hotel of this quality should not have. There were 4 adults in our group. Collectively, during our three day stay we ate 10 breakfasts in the restaurant. In each of those breakfasts, something was incorrect. The wrong items served or items in the breakfast not served at all until we asked for them. One morning we were served an entire carafe of coffee made with room temperature water. In the rooms, there are coffee makers. The machine in our room and our friend’s room, were both incredibly loud….astoundingly loud. The water temperature in the showers fluctuated. It would be perfect, then suddenly become very hot or almost cold. — However, our rooms were both beautiful, the beds were very comfortable, and it had outstanding air conditioning. The front desk attendants and parking valet attendants were professional, efficient and helpful. The pool bar and lobby bar staff were excellent. Despite being very busy, they handled the orders and drinks perfectly. Despite the items that need improvement, this hotel is beautiful and worth the price.

Truly the class of Galveston. The work that is done on a daily basis to make this hotel perfect is very easy to see. The pool is awesome and now the Galvez has its own section of beach with seating and umbrellas. Snacks and drinks can be ordered by just asking the staff at the beach and everything is brought to you. I don't remember the names of the female attendants but they were so nice and personable. Will stay here every time I bring my family to Galveston.
