We had a fantastic three week stay at Cyrenia Guest House. The apartment we boomed was very comfortable and well designed. We knew we were in for a great stay when we arrived to find a bottle of excellent, local white wine and a generous fruit bowl waiting for us in our room! The small but functional kitchen included a full size fridge with freezer, a small stove with three stovetop burners, pots and a frying pan for cooking, a panini press, and bowls, plates and cutlery. When she learned that we wanted to cook meals in the apartment, our host provided us with a very nice deep fryer as well (more on the amazing service from our host and her family below). There was also a comfortable sofa (which could be converted to a twin bed if need be) in the room. Great for lounging and reading. The bathroom is small but well appointed. The toiletries provided (shampoo; conditioner; body wash; lotion) are high quality and replenished regulalry. The shower is excellent with great pressure and plenty of hot water. The bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed with high quality linens and pillows (*there were two pillows per person, one firmer than the other so you could choose which was more comfortable for you - a great touch). The neighbourhood is quiet and the modern shutters provide good blackout conditions; we enjoyed great sleeps throughout our stay. There are two large, walk-out balconies - one from the kitchen/living room and one from the bedroom. We ate at the table outside the kitchen, where we enjoyed a spectacular view of Monemvasia island and the harbour as we sipped coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. The modern wall mounted, whisper quiet air conditioning units in the kitchen and bedroom moderated the temperature precisely during a heat wave. A nice touch was the plexiglass panel below the bedroom unit, which kept the cool air from spilling directly down onto the bed as we were sleeping. For all the comforts of the apartment itself, the highlight of our stay was the amazing welcome provided by our hosts : Politimi, and her sister Kyriaki. Whether it was picking us up at the bus station, bringing us delicious local foodstuffs (like luscious olive from her mother’s own olive trees and kritamos from the seaside), giving us great advice about the area over generous (included) breakfasts, or driving us to a fabulous local winery for a tasting - Politimi and Kyriaki made us feel like family. If we needed anything we needed only to ask and our need was met promptly with good cheer. We will most definitely stay at Cyrenia Guest House again if the opportunity presents itself. Highly recommended.
