I planned a party here for my Mum and Dads 40th wedding anniversary, they had their original wedding reception here 40 years ago so it was very special. We went with the package deal. The original planning etc went well, I met with Diane the owner who was friendly and happy to help. However the problems started when I could not get in touch with Diane the week of the party, she had said the DJ would be in touch to discuss the evening but I had not hear from him so emailed her, I never heard back so called and spoke with a staff member who said she was away in holiday but had left all the plans with then for the party on Sat. Unfortunately Diane had not left all the details we had discussed with her staff. Firstly, when booking the party I was under the impression that the DJ was included in the price of the package, this may have been partly my fault for assuming, however at no point was it discussed that we would pay the DJ on the night or that we could have just arranged our own DJ instead. I was very surprised when the manager approached me and told me I would have to pay £200 the DJ on the night. I did not have the money. My brother had to finally do a bank transfer. I wish that this had been communicated more clearly so we weren’t caught off guard on the night. It was a package deal?? We would also have chosen a family friend who is a DJ to preform if I’d had known that was an option, for half the price. Secondly- there was no gluten free meal for my sister in-law, even though this was discussed in person and via email. The manager (Adam I think) managed to get the chef to whip her up something but she had to wait and my food went cold trying to sort it out for her. I feel this was so unnecessary. Adam said there was no note of any gluten free on the booking. Why not? Thirdly- some of the guests did not get any food at all because by the time they got to the front of the line it had ran out and we were told there would be no more. We paid an extra £50 for 3 trays of food, to feed 80 people! I don’t understand it. I’ve never in my life been to a venue where the food ran out. It was very embarrassing. Now, I know there may be a possibility that people were being too greedy with portions but perhaps if someone was serving this could have been prevented. However, I actually don’t think that was the case, I do not think that was enough food to feed 80 people and actually the final number was 76! Can I just say that Adam was great and did manage to get us some sandwiches for the people who didn’t get anything to eat and the food that was served was delicious and hot. Also the manager who was in early evening was very helpful. This was a very special night for my Mum and Dad and unfortunately it did not go as smoothly as I would have liked. There was several other little things which wouldn’t have bothered me normally, but with everything else it just make the over all experience underwhelming. Staff could not fine the easel (whic
