This is an OK basic hotel with friendly and hard-working staff, but there are a few issues. Firstly the positives, the bathroom was good and had both a fixed-head shower and a bath tub. Secondly, the breakfasts are excellent. Thirdly, there's lots of free parking. As for the negative points, I was surprised that we could hear the people moving around in the room above as you might in an old house. I guess there's not a lot they can do about how the building was constructed, but some extra sound-deadening insulation is needed in my view. Another surprising thing about the building was the condition of the windows in our room. They seemed in need of renovation of replacement. What was more worrying about them given that we were on the ground floor, was the fact that the security-lock mechanisms on them were broken. We also noted the wall-mounted radiator, which seemed to be rusted or discoloured. Another item in need of attention or replacement was the fabric-covered chair. The fabric seemed generally grubby and there were a couple of clear stains. In summary, the room needed some refurbishment, which is a pity because it was generally fine but let down by the issues mentioned above in my opinion. It's worth bearing in mind that this hotel has no air-con or lifts. Also, there is free wi-fi, but it was slow and not always easy to connect to in our experience. I found the local 5G connection weak, so the wi-fi was needed. There is also a paid-for option of better wi-fi, but, to be honest, I'd prefer the cost of this to be built into the room rate. So would I stay here again? Yes, if the price was good, but I hope they will do any necessary refurbishment before too long.
