We stayed here for 2 nights for our vow renewal. Rooms are beautiful, staff and service impeccable. Very romantic ambience and everything went amazingly. Restaurant was superb with a good range of dishes. If you book the stay, dine and celebrate package, you get a bottle of bubbly and £25 each towards an evening meal. Highly recommended for your special day. Our Minister, Graeme Murray and photographer Bill Black went above and beyond for our very special ceremony Thank you all so much. Mark and Dawn Owen

The most friendliest ever Hotel!! Nothing was too much trouble. Bed was so comfortable, room was lovely, great bathroom, gorgeous toiletries. We stayed here on the eve of our elopement to Gretna Green and was not disappointed! Lots of couples here tying the knot but all were treated individually and made to feel so special

Mostly a fantastic place to have my daughters wedding.. lovely staff and atmosphere. Family room bathroom was disappointing needed doing up looking tired and dated. But bridal suite (Thistle,) absolutely amazing. Good food wonderful choice at breakfast. We booked 3 rooms for family members and our wedding party had 7 more rooms.. a bit hit and miss with quality of room. Expected higher standards for price.

I didn’t have high hopes after reading some of the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised though and thought the hotel was good! All the staff were friendly. It was clean. Our room was a decent size and had everything in it we needed. The bar was well stocked and there was plenty of seating. We didn’t eat here, so can’t comment on the food. Negatives - the room doesn’t have a ceiling light so is a bit dark when trying to get ready. Some more lighting of any sort would be beneficial. The veneer on the small table was starting to peel off round the edge, and was sharp. Would stay here again.

This hotel is an absolute disgrace and are thieves, I booked a weekend and had to cancel due to an illness, they simply took the money and would not refund a penny! An absolute scandal and I would recommend never using them at all!! NEVER AGAIN!

My husband and I came to get married and stayed at the Smith’s hotel. The room was lovely and thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony at the famous Black Smith’s. However, we were put on a floor of a rather outrageous and scummy family, from Birmingham. They were very loud, loutish and completely inconsiderate of others. Children were roaring through the hallways (unattended, with no adults present) and howling like dogs/ wolves. The adults weren’t much better, with foul language and none needed behaviour. Both nights were utterly horrendous, not something you want or expect on your wedding celebration stay. We always thought we’d return, for a nostalgic anniversary… but perhaps not.

We stayed two nights; one on the way to the Highlands and one on the way back. Check in was very good and staff very friendly. Our bedrooms were large with a decent sized bathroom (shower over the bath), but generally it felt a little tired. One of our rooms was on the side of the hotel facing the A74 and it was noisy. Breakfast was okay with a decent selection and the two evening meals we ate in the hotel resteraunt were quite good, but pricey. Staff were very friendly (apart from one), but service was quite slow.

Grim, dirty hotel which should be so much more. We came late after a long drive in anticipation of our wedding. The restaurant served possibly one of the worst meals I have had for a long time. I believe the mash was dehydrated potato (smash), and everything else was just not good. The room was dirty with stains on the walls (definitely don’t bring a black light), and the bathroom has mould and dirt. The tiles and floor were not clean. We don’t get it. The staff are lovely, the wedding coordinator was the best, but the hotel is a massive disappointment and so unnecessary as it is the only place to stay for a wedding. We decided it was a part of the memories. Just not the best part .

We went for a relatives wedding, it was well planned and the staff were very helpful. Food was good too. Our room was clean and comfortable. It would have been better if there was a way to have brighter lighting when needed as our room only had one window and the lighting was not bright . The other small thing was that the refreshments were not restocked after our first night , we didn't mention it at the time because we worked round it
