We spent 4 nights at the Allegro Hotel and were really pleased with our choice to stay there. When we arrived there was no one at the reception but there was a phone number to call and they give you a pin number for the safe at the entrance that holds the key to your room. That was a new concept for us, but was no problem. The employees we met during our stay were all very friendly. Our room was on the floor above ground level. There are no elevators so if you need a barrier free room, you should request a ground floor room up front. The room we had was spacious, modern, immaculately clean and had very comfortable beds. The room faced the back side of the hotel which was really quiet. We slept so well. The air conditioning unit is really quiet, too. There was a refrigerator in the room as well as a hot water cooker. We had no problems with the Wi-Fi connection. The bathroom is just as spacious and modern and the walk-in shower was great. The breakfast bar looked appealing and . There were plenty of choices of food, even if you are vegetarian, as I am. There are parking spaces directly in front of the hotel for the guests at no extra cost. This was a big plus and comes in handy If you want to see the city of Halberstadt, you can leave your car parked at the hotel and walk about 10 minutes to the historical center (the Hälberstädter Dom church and the museum of the church treasures are worth seeing). The hotel's own restaurant was not open in the evenings. If you need to buy something to drink or a snack, there are also 3 grocery stores wirhin walking distance. This hotel in Halberstadt is also a good starting point for many other destinations in the Harz Mountain area. Close by is Wernigerode, Quedlinburg and Thale (Bodetal), for example.
