We love this location, but a few issues clouded our stay. Most importantly, is security. On the last day of our stay some Hispanic men tried to break in to our room (1010). Our side of the floor had been emptied to do some construction and install new mattresses. They started knocking and banging at 0700 when we were still asleep then the break in. We also noted a good deal of light coming in at night from the connecting door in our room. So, we opened it the next day and it seems there’s only one door connecting the rooms and our side had the lock. See the pictures that were taken from our room. We could have walked in to the connecting room and did anything. . In addition, our room had inadequate AC, however we were there during a heat wave. Bedding and furniture were always moist and there was definitely a strong mildew smell. Bottled water is $4.50 in the gift shop so bring your own (Krogers is a mile away). The hotel is steps from the beach. The pool bar and restaurant, which are actually quite good, are significantly overpriced. Employees are fairly friendly. Umbrellas and chairs are easily rented by the beach service. If we returned I would smell the room for mildew before I accepted the room and made sure there was no connecting door. We also would have secured our own door from the hallway, break in was upsetting. The location is what would draw us back. It’s perfect and if you pay the overpriced oceanfront rate make sure you book above the fourth floor (trees cover your view fourth floor and below). Before management comes back with the our AC struggles when the temperature outside is 100 degrees, that first floor lobby, restaurant, etc are nice and cool, furniture is not moist and there is a not a nasty mold smell.
