Rose and Crown Bath

We chose the Rose & Crown mainly based on its location. It’s only about 5 miles from Bath city centre and about a 20 minute drive to Longleat Safari Park (our main reason for the trip). First impressions were very good. There was plenty of parking at the pub and staff were friendly and helpful during check in. We were given room 1. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and clean. We were told our room had been upgraded to the super king room which was appreciated. The only fault I could find with the room was that the mattress was too soft for me but this is just personal preference. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see much of the pub itself. We checked in Sunday afternoon and the pub was only open until 6pm. It was shut all day on Monday and Tuesday. As we were checking out Tuesday morning we didn’t get chance to try the food in the pub or have a drink in there in the evening. Although this was a little disappointing, at least it meant it was quiet when we went to bed plus they gave us free continental breakfast (you help yourself from the fridge in the lobby). Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again if in the area.

Absolutely excellent stay in charming, quiet village near Bath and loads of historic sites in beautiful countryside. The guesthouse was extremely welcoming, the room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Great information provided in the room about things to do/places to visit in the vicinity. The staff were outstanding too. This will be my choice for future stays in the area.

My wife and I booked the property on a short stay to bath and so glad that we did, rather than normally booking through Airbnb. On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and given all the information that we needed for our stay. the location is perfect for bath and is also perfect for the views and quietness that it brings cannot recommend this highly enough and would definitely stay here again

Visited the Rose and Crown this evening for a family meal. The food and service was 1st class….fantastic !! Beautiful pub with such friendly staff, would highly recommend. We will definitely return, it’s well worth the visit.

The rooms were super clean and very well kept. The rest of the building was very clean and well kept too. The restaurant/pub had very good food and would recommend the burger with coleslaw on the side. It is a little bit of a drive into bath (About 15 min max by bus) Bus stop is located right outside and there’s a little general store across the street for anything you forgot. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the road was a little busy and would get a little loud but nothing I couldn’t sleep through.

Just perfect ! Everything you want and need and more from a guesthouse. Lovely rooms, clean, beautifully decorated and maintained. Tea/coffee, fresh water, hairdryer, complimentary shower gels, shampoo. The Location is perfect with a bus stop outside taking you directly to Bath! Plenty of parking onsite. The pub was most welcoming, a real heart of the village. Everyone was so friendly and the regular customers were a brilliant source of local knowledge! The food was amazing - freshly home cooked heaven on a plate! Nigel and Shaun were the perfect hosts, (and staff) couldn’t do enough for you, nothing was to much trouble! Brilliant company and along with their regulars it made for a fantastic evening. Already booked to return next year !!!

This evening I met my friend for food at this pub. I ordered nachos the salsa tasted sharp and I could not eat it. Told staff who did not seem to be bothered. Won’t be using this pub again. Poor customer service and over priced. Staff were not exactly inviting when we walked in.

What a lovely surprise! A gorgeous old English pub, beautifully presented. Plenty of off street parking (no fee), a lovely beer garden with plenty of tables and seating and a bar that welcomes you to stay. I stayed for 2 nights in a very well appointed room, with en suite, overlooking the garden. Modern decor with a salute to the past (see photos). No scrimping on the tea making facilities here, plenty of everything. Modern bathroom with shower, toiletries and fluffy towels. I didn’t go any further than their dining room for dinner. Their menu had something for everyone and, in my humble opinion, it was well above your usual standard of pub meal. I ate there again the next night also!!! Breakfast is extra, but once again, generous portions and more than enough to take for lunch. I have to commend and thank all those who made my stay an extremely pleasant one ….. I’m sorry I had to leave. Highly recommend and would love to stay there again.

Start with the room. Clean and roomy. Smart TV was great-meant we could access Netflix…..just as well really, as the pub&restaurant were closed, as was the pub down the road. This was on a Monday. If you are looking for dinner on a Monday and you are staying here, you’ll need to drive . Think it’s all closed Tuesday as well. My wife & I like staying in pub accommodation as it means (usually) you can park up and enjoy a beer & bite without having to drive. Yo charge £110.00 just for the room is a little over the top. There’s plenty of accommodation for less in the surrounding area offering more. So why did I book here you may ask? Because I’ve stayed here, enjoyed the pub restaurant experience and thought we would do it again….word to the wise….check carefully when booking if the pub restaurant are open, otherwise you are staying in an overpriced (clean though) room in a very sleepy village….I likened it to a ghost town. Some might like that. I’ll learn from my mistake & read the small print
