Hampton Inn Roanoke/Hollins-I-81

Rooms were clean and spacious, and bed was comfortable. Staff were professional and friendly at check in (even though we didn’t have a reservation) and checkout. Easy access to/from I 81. Breakfast was hot and tasty. Ample parking in well lit parking lot.

Convenient off of highway. Front desk nice staff. I have on my preferences, under Hilton Honor, “away from elevator” and my room was directly across from elevator. It was late and too tired to change Rooms were clean but need an update. Bedding was fine and that’s important to me. AC strong and goes on and off. Floors sticky in hotel - literally squeak /stick to tennis shoes Across the street from Starbucks and right off 81. Probably would stay again.

I would highly recommend this Hampton Inn. Free water bottles to all, great pool (and was open unlike others in the area), the room was clean and everyone was nice and helpful. The breakfast was great. They even had restaurant suggestions for the area on the front desk. I couldn't have asked for more during my stay and will come back here again. I'm in the Roanoke area all the time, and this is the place I'm going to stay from now on.

Stayed here the night before the NASCAR race at Martinsville Speedway. In reasonable driving distance to the track and close to the Interstate but far enough off to minimize road noise. Room seemed to be recently renovated, but it was very clean and comfortable. Parking was a little limited when I arrived late. A solid place to stay for the night!

We had an excellent stay in Roanoke. The hotel was nice and the iced lemon water in the lobby after a long day's drive was a great touch. The thing that made the visit most enjoyable though was the efforts of Donna and Isabelle in creating an excellent breakfast experience. I was up early walking and Donna was in the kitchen area already by 5 AM working on getting breakfast ready. This allowed it to open even earlier than the official time and it was delicious. I always stay at Hampton Inns whenever possible. This is perhaps one of the worst Hampton Inn's ever. The bathroom was filthy - so dirty that I did not even take a shower there. A large sticky spot on the floor in front of the toilet; hair in the shower and on the rim of the shower pan; hair and lint on the floor in the corner by the shower; etc. There was no top sheet on the bed. Regulating the room temperature was difficult. It was one of the first cool nights of the year, so I turned the heat on. I immediately got too hot and had to adjust the temp. There was not an option to throw the comforter off because there was no top sheet. I expressed my displeasure to the staff at check-out, but was not met with any appearance of concern. I intended to make my reservation at the Hampton Inn located at 450 Litchell Road, Salem, VA 24153 which is fabulous! But I accidentally reserved at this one. I will never make that mistake again! I will never stay at this hotel again. Avoid this one and go to Salem.

Do not stay here! Booked the reservation several months ago. Checked on the reservation yesterday to select a room. Was told could not select room but all was OK. arrived today at 3. Was told because I used reward points, I had to stay in a room lacking some amenities. So, basically, this Hilton property will discriminate against members using points. Oh, as a bonus, they checked me in, told me to get my stuff, and, when reaching the room, learned that my room was not ready leaving me to sit on the floor in the hallway.

The staff here was very rude and disrespectful. I filed a complaint for discrimination. Upon arrival I went to the desk to check in, no hello or how can I help you, just do you have a reservation. I replied yes I do. I was told my room was not ready at 3pm and I Had to wait 30 min before a room would be available. 4 family’s came in after me and were given a room right away, when The 30 mins was up I went back to see about my room and was told I still had to wait and no rooms were available. I said you told me 30 min my room would be ready, the guy at the desk stated “ No I said I hope a room will be ready in 30 min, you will have to wait”. Mean while arguing with his co worker who was trying to help with the situation. I called corporate to complain, and they put me on hold while they called the hotel on the other line. Less than 3 minutes corporate returned to the line to let me know my room was ready. When we got to the floor where our room was, there was no room service staff in the area that looked like they had just finished cleaning our room or any room near ours. So I can’t figure out why we were told there were no rooms available for our reservation at check in time besides being discriminated against. Ad to make it worst later that day I realized I was charged more than I was suppose to be, thankfully the shift had changed and I was able to talk with someone who was professional and helpful that took care of the issue. Please Hampton inn by Hilton train your staff to do better and be more professional so that it doesn’t have a negative effect on your company.

Now my favorite Hampton Inn. Newly remodeled. We arrive after a long drive from Mississippi which was mostly through terrible storms. Tim made us feel welcome and gave us a great room. The room was huge with the largest King bed I've ever seen. Tim also provided us with a recommendation for dining and some other great tips for making our stays more enjoyable. The hotel is conveniently located right off I-81. Plan to stay here many more times during our treks to MS and back.
