We stayed at Mission Inn 3 nights and played both golf courses. The gentlemen running the courses are very friendly, as well as are the snack cart girls and the hotel staff in general. We ate at La Margarita’s on two occasions, and our servers Sidney and Matthew were fantastic. The food was pretty tasty — met our expectations. Our room faced the 5th tee of the El Campeon course. The room was slightly older but very clean and well appointed, spacious. The courses were in fine shape — fun to play! Only two knocks against our stay. 1. The mattresses desperately need replaced. Ours was far too soft — really awful to be honest. The other issue was we went to Nicker’s after golf on day 2 at 3:25pm. There weren’t but a few tables taken. The hostess sat us immediately and gave us menus. There were two servers nearby clearing and resetting tables, tending to one table of patrons right next to us; however, for 15 minutes we sat there completely ignored. It was like we were invisible. The one older, slight man with a beard lazily cleared the table not 5 feet away, totally ignored us. The young woman server with braids was not 6 inches away from us as she asked the table next to us if they wanted dessert. No one said “someone will be right with you” or brought us water — nothing. So we just ended up leaving and went to La Margarita’s at 4pm, which was night and day a different experience. I hadn’t played the course since 1991, so it was nostalgic, and my husband and I had a great time golfing. Their breakfast buffet is excellent. Don’t miss that. You can get anything made fresh (pancakes, waffles, eggs, omelets) plus a plethora of fruits (blueberries, strawberries, pineapples, etc), all the meats, breads, buns, and more. The gold and the breakfast buffet were the highlights for sure. As mentioned before, but for the servers at Nicker’s, the entire staff was, to a person, efficient, friendly and welcoming!
