SUJÁN the Serai Jaisalmer

A splendid experience from A to Z, with personalized attention from the camp's staff at all levels. We also appreciated the complete discretion but constant availability with a buzzer from our private butler The location is slightly less than one hour away from Jaisalmer which, for some, will be a deal breaker, but from our experience it was without any doubt worth the compromise.

My husband and I travelled between Dec 26-28 and we were pretty sick due to all the dusty traveling we had done in Rajasthan 10 days prior to staying here and this was our last stop. The staff went beyond was was required of them to help us recover. From heaters to warm blankets to different kinds of specialized teas to hot water kettles, they took care of us like babies. Let me thank as many of them as I can :) Ankurita Saggu and Sunil Joseph running the show up front, who are my Tom and Jerry, they keep it light and fun while working so hard in the background. Monishca is omnipresent in the property for anything that you need ! Ashu Singh and Parameshwar who took us on Thar Sundown tour for locating as many birds as possible and giving us the exact details on each of them with the help of their Indian Subcontinent bird book :) Khilap Singh and Umaid ji were wonderful too. Big shout out to the entire amazing staff! Thank you.

Just left the hotel and wanted to write the staff and thank them for a wonderful visit. The tented rooms were tranquil and spacious. They asked that you keep your phone on silent so it was very quiet and peaceful. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. It was an oasis of calm and relaxation.

Authentic & extremely luxury tent with all the modern comfort & amenities . Amazingly efficient & professional service - Especially regarding the GM . Among the landmarks visited during our 3 weeks tour of Rajasthan as well as the palaces where we stayed , this first stop has been my wife's favourite . Parmi tous les palaces extraordinaires durant nos 3 semaines au Rajasthan , c'est bien celui-ci qu'a préféré mon épouse .

We had a lifetime amazing stay this week at Serai. Their hospitality was excellent. Chef Rawal was terrific with his cuisine. Our butler Megh was exceptional and available all the time . At last moment we also got two ladies swimsuits from the on-site boutique so the ladies could enjoy the swimming pool. They have an excellent spa run by Dimi and Maria- terrific duo. Sunil Joseph the resident manager was very helpful in guiding us for all our activities. Listen and accept his suggestions all the time please. Sundowner trip should not be missed (additional charge) and worth every penny! Locational dinner at night is worth getting arranged one of the nights( with additional cover charge). We were fortunate to have Sarvesh come all the way from Jawai( leopard reserve) to help us with our first experience with StarGazing as well as bird watching. I strongly recommend everyone to try stargazing at Serai. They have a nice telescope for that. Our outdoor movie experience was amazing and nostalgic of old drive-in days with terrific individual Sennheiser headphones and movie side dinner. Also due for first timers the archery experience is a must. To top of all, pre reserved morning breakfast at "the farm " was heavenly. If you are there for more than 1-2 nights, book your Farm breakfast for sure. Ms.Ankurita was always there for all of our questions and support, cannot ask for a better support 24/24. With our excellent experience here we are planning to visit Sujan Jawai soon, for leopard safari as well as to duplicate our experience at Serai. I believe. couple of negative reviews here are not at all reflective of anything. Harshdeep and Girima Vii out of Delhi were always receptive and prompt on all our queries. Lastly of course the resort upgraded our rooms to higher category on availability, courtesy Asst.manager Tarun Kumar who coordinated the entire trip satisfactorily before we came. A must place to visit if you go to Jaiselmar !

Very good place.. you can enjoy here camp feeling. Staff is very good.maintain healthy hygiene environment around there . Feeling very happy and I want to go again to this palace.. love to leave here..

I didn’t realize PT Barnum was referring to me for believing the great reviews about Sujan properties. My agent booked this at MY request. After a disappointing stay at Sujan Jawai, I wasn’t expecting a great experience, but it was much worse than I had expected. Upon arrival we were taken to our tent. It’s nicely appointed but is not worth the over $1200/day price which only includes WiFi(slow and intermittent), laundry and breakfast. Everything else is a la carte. They have nerve telling you in writing to not drink the water, but then charging you for bottled water after your allotted 2 liters a day per tent. This just set the bad tone, and I’m glad I also brought my own water to not have to buy at rip off prices. While I can afford it, I find Sujan just takes advantage of you with the pricing, knowing there is nothing nearby. Taking a Coke from the plastic cooler( they call mini bar) costs about $6. Getting the complete Indian lunch( also the same offered at dinner)was about $48 plus tax. There is no air conditioning in the bathroom, and it was 95 degrees F outside. The hot water didn’t get hot, so like other hotels I’ve been at in India, I let it run til hot. It never got hot. My wife used it cold, and I couldn’t handle that, so I bathed in the outdoor jacuzzi as it was warmer. They provide a hair dryer. The first one had a bad switch but worked. It just was hard to turn on and off. I requested another one. When it too cut on and off intermittently, I asked for a third one which also was intermittent. I then realized the issue. The hair dryer has a European plug, and it’s loose in THEIR supplied adapter. I travel with my own adapters and solved the issue. I complained about the hot water, and they sent someone to the tent while I was eating. They said the water temperature was reading 50 degree C. When I got back to the tent, the sink water was hot. Obviously they must not keep the hot water on all the time, or maybe my tent had just been vacant for a while before I arrived, and the hot was turned off. The shower never actually got hot enough. I found they do have hot water when it was necessary to change tents on our last day.( see below) The food is second rate and expensive. The chicken was not well done as requested. And other than at Sujan Jawai too, I’ve never had naan that just wasn’t good. They get $15 for their signature brownie, and ice cream is extra. It is like a bad soft chocolate cake. Shame on me for ordering it, as it too was bad at Sujan Jawai, but at least all food was included in the room rate there. I had hoped it would be good as I had brownies at several other hotels this trip. Suckered again. My agent who is a personal friend, being aware of the ridiculous charges here, decided I should use his driver who has been with us for over 2 weeks, and a local guide regularly used by his Jaisalmer office. A good choice too. Being that the Sawai is 45 minutes outside Jaisalmer, it’s nice to have a comfortable air

This was my favorite lodging on my latest one_month trip to Rajasthan. It is an oasis of peace and beauty. The staff is extraordinary and the managers offer extraordinary hospitality. Our tent with its jacuzzi was stunning and beautifully furnished. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Our dinner under the stars in a secluded spot was so special and a unique experience. We made a day trip to Jaisalmer, a city I enjoy very much , even though it has become very crowded. Thank you, the staff of Sujan, for making our stay so very special. I shall always remember our great experience.
