Our otherwise fine stay at Voco Rosebank was marred by inept reception staff on both arrival and departure. On arrival they had no idea; asked if our room was prepaid? It wasn't until we gave the person the voucher - which she copied into their system - that we were checked in. Then on departure the next morning we kept wondering why our Jarat driver wasn't showing up. We had arranged with him to make it 830 am. By 850 we called downstairs twice and initially they denied that there was anybody from Jarat there. The second time the person said, 'oh I think he's here' It turns out that the driver had been at the hotel since about 8 am. And that he had notified reception. They did not notify us and told Richard "they couldn't find them/us in the system". I don't know what would have happened if we had just done nothing and waited. Fortunately it was a public holiday so traffic to the airport was light. Clearly our driver should have contacted his office to report the situation but it was all caused by the utter incompetence of the Voco reception staff. Truly clueless. When I asked one of them about it this morning she flat out lied and said that the driver gave them a name that wasn't in their system. Our Jarat tours driver did in fact provide them with our correct names and last name so the failure is on them. Otherwise we liked the location of the property, the heavy level of security, the proximity to so many restaurants and shops, the market etc. The room was pretty nice too although the bathroom had practically no shelf space. The shower was good, the mattress was great as were the cushions. Air-conditioning worked well and it was quiet. And breakfast at Proud Mary was excellent with tons of options. And nice coffee. Even so I don't know if we can even consider using the property for our guests, based on our arrival AND departure experience.
