We absolutely loved our stay at the Fern Grotto Inn. We were contacted about our visit as it got closer with some instructions and directions so everything went super smooth when we arrived. It only took us about 10 minutes to get from the airport to the Fern Grotto Inn. When we arrived we instantly were happy with the choice we made to stay here. We were welcomed by receiving a nice plate of fresh fruit and some goodies in our refrigerator. The cottage had everything we wanted and more. It was a nice size cottage, very clean, modern and central to many things that we had intended to explore. The Fern Grotto had available, for their guests to use, Kayaks and Bikes, as well as other equipment. This was super convenient and a bonus to our stay. The convenience of a small kitchen and eating area was very useful, the king size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom a nice size. There are roosters & hens that roam the island and this was no different at the Fern Grotto Inn. They don't bother you but did tend to wake us up more than we liked but it wouldn't keep us from staying there again & sure we would experience it at other vacationing locations.

This was a really a great place to stay in Kauai! We had a lovely time in Coco A unit. It was very well maintained and equipped with all the essentials and beyond. We also appreciated all the sports gear including kayaks, snorkeling gears and bikes that the guests could use free of charge. It is very clear that the owner had made a great effort to make sure that the guests had everything they needed. We highly recommend Fern Grotto Inn for any potential future guests! This is particularly the case for those who do not appreciate big commercial resorts but rather prefer boutique style establishments. As a side point we recommend taking the canoe to the nearby river and paddle up to the secret water fall trail. We did it on our own so there is no need to pay for an organized tour. Biking along the coastal trail was also super nice. Regarding food, we stumbled upon the Fish Market deli and bar in Kapa’a, which was a big hit; we definitely had the best price/performance meal there during our four day stay in Kauai.

It was perfect in every aspect for us! Very clean and well organized and nicely decorated room Somewhat of a older Hawaii feel, yet it had everything to accommodate your needs wether you are cooking or barbecuing to eating out locally. Nice garden surroundings. Especially enjoyed the kayaks up the river.

I can't say enough about this unit. Super clean. The attention to details, they thought of everything! Nice BBQ to use, fully stocked kitchen. Pick your morning fruit! Location was so convenient. I almost hate to share such a great place haha.

Excellent place to stay for those who prefer something a little off the beaten path. If you enjoy outdoor activities, this is the place for you! We enjoyed the kayaks, SUPs, bikes, and beach items (coolers, chairs, snorkeling gear). Additionally, fabulous hikes are a short distance away! The cottage we stayed at (Canal A) had a gorgeous view of the Wailua River and we loved watching all the kayakers and boats on the water each morning. It was quiet (except for the roosters, but that's all of Kauai), peaceful, and we hope to stay again at some point in the future!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Fern Grotto! Beautiful little bungalows with pretty much everything you need to be comfortable during our stay. Very clean! And great location to many activities and adventures. Highly recommend!

Fern Grotto Inn is wonderful! It is in a great location, convenient to driving in any direction. The Inn provides many comforting extras so that you don't need to overpack or buy items unnecessarily. (Beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, kayaks, snorkel gear, etc.) The Inn was quiet and comfortable. We loved the privacy of Coco A and would certainly stay here again if we have an opportunity to return to Kauai.

Fern Grotto Inn is the perfect lodging on Kaua’i. Easy access to all parts of the island, wonderful amenities and a fantastic owner. Easy check-in/out, spotless housekeeping and a welcome binder full of useful information and recommendations. Kick your shoes off, put on your slippahs and enjoy your stay!

Our friend recommended Fern Grotto Inn. We were thrilled with the location in so many ways - access to West and North side of island [roads do not connect], great restaurants and activities nearby. The apartment is very thoughtfully set up for our trip [shampooh, conditioner, olive oil, salt&pepper, guidebooks, flowers, greetings]. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking. The apartment was immaculately clean. We LOVED our kayak trip to the Secret Falls using Fern Grotto Inn provided - kayak, lifejackets and paddles. We are very grateful for our stay. Highly recommended.
