I will preface this review with the following, my wife and I typically camp and as such I’m not the most up to speed on hotels and their terminology. Also, this review is wordy, but I don’t want to omit details which could confuse my overall review. To that end, we had reserved a room at Recreation inn and suites with a kitchenette. The website photos showed two Queen beds side by side and also included an apartment sized fridge and stove which was perfect as we wanted to trim our trip costs by doing some of our own cooking. When we arrived to the motel and had checked I we were disappointed to find our room in fact came with a bar fridge and a hot plate. Clearly there had been a disconnect between what we thought we were paying for and the reality of the situation. We immediately returned to the office and spoke with Mike (owner) and JJ (manager) and explained our expectations vs. reality. Both Mike and JJ apologized to us explaining that the website is in need of some edits to avoid just this situation and clarified that only the suites include a full kitchen. They offered an upgrade to accommodate at a reduced rate in order to fit our budget and we were quickly moved over to the new room (suite) The suite is aged compared to a Hilton or best western or the like, but has been very well maintained. We had lots of space. The building and grounds were immaculate and the location was surprisingly quiet given its close proximity to a main artery through Kelowna. Location is also very central and there is an outdoor pool which unfortunately was unavailable for repairs/maintenance, however we were offered full use of the indoor pool just down the road at the sister hotel Dilworth inn. Despite the minor hiccups we had an excellent weekend in Kelowna and were very pleased with both the motel and its staff!
