Avondale House

Sue welcomed us warmly when we arrived and showed us to our room. We had coffee with lovely ginger biscuits and the room was great. Bed very comfortable, and toasty and warm which was needed as we came in from the rain. We were given lovely recommendations for things to do including a little walk to the Ruthven barracks, which was an excellent suggestion. Thanks for a great stay!

Warm welcome from Sue and Steve. Very clean and homely atmosphere. Sue and Steve are excellent hosts and keen to please....and allowed us to eat our takeaway in the dining room which was great. Full Scottish breakfast was hot and very filling along with the endless supply of fresh toast. We are already thinking about booking for next year. Highly recommend!

Comfortable bedroom but old fashioned and tired. The rest of the house is cluttered and untidy. Breakfast was OK. Host was friendly. This could be a great place to stay but it needs a revamp. There were old vacuum cleaners, broken lamps and chaos in the office.

At the Beginning we was supposed to be staying for 2 nights but ended up staying an extra night cause we loved our time there. Can't fault the efforts sue and Steve put towards the guests and making sure they have everything they need and are also available to everyone 24/7 if needed. Stayed in room 5 with my partner and it was a Kingsize 4 Poster Bed with an amazing big antique bath very pleasant and satisfied with the room layout and what was on offer to guests. Breakfast was fantastic every morning with a good choice of menu for everyone 10/10 for our stay with Avondale House will definitely recommend if you haven't been here before. Also recommend Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore for a fantastic Meal Darren and Zoe

Lovely room, comfortable bed, nice bath, good quality linen. Warm cosy house, but also appreciated the special touch of a hot water bottle just-in-case. Complimentary tea, coffee, water and biscuits. Great hosts!

This was booked sight unseen as our previous b&b choice was unavailable. Steve and Sue are a lovely couple who were very welcoming and in fact we spent a very pleasant evening with them on the Sunday night, after being invited to join them for a barbecue. The room itself was a double en suite. It was clean and the bed was more comfortable than most in a b&b setting. It was a very warm room, but in fairness it was a warm weekend for late August in Scotland lol. They do have a hot tub and we were invited to use it if we wished, but we were too busy availing ourselves of the festivities in Aviemore as part of the bike rally we were attending. We have booked for next year the upgraded deluxe room. The room we had this year had a bath and mixer tap, which wasn’t really ideal as I am disabled due to severe arthritis and other issues. The deluxe room is much larger and has a shower cubicle which will suit our needs much better. Many people however love a bath and this will suit them well. All in all a pleasant stay and it says something that we have booked to go back next year. The rating of four star is based on the room we had, but we couldn’t fault the hosts themselves.
