Aminess Korcula Heritage Hotel

We had a modern clean room, a wonderful breakfast, drinks outside in the evening, and pleasant staff. Hotel is not hard to find. Located near everything. The entire old city is small but filled with restaurants and shops. You can get to the hotel from the ferry in less than 2 minutes by walking.

This place looks nice from the outside, and it’s in a good location, but our room on the second floor was kind of awful. To begin, there is no elevator, and the second floor is more like the fourth floor. When you walk into the room, it’s a very icky sitting area with the tiniest window above a radiator. The floors have old wall to wall carpet. The couch has a blanket covering the cushions, but the dirty arms are uncovered. They didn’t even bother to straighten the broken lampshade. The tiny bathroom is on this floor, but you have to take the stairs that look like they belong to a service entrance up to the loft to find the bed. There are a few windows at the loft level, but you can only see out of them if you stand at the foot of the bed. There’s a slanted wall behind the bed and nightstand, so you can’t bend down in front of the nightstand without hitting your head. The bathroom is icky and so small I could barely lift my arms in the shower. Maybe the rooms on the first floor are better, but I wouldn’t try it.

The hotel has a beautiful setting on the dockside and we had a wonderful view from our balcony looking across the water. The dockside is quite busy with large yachts coming and going but they didn’t interrupt our view and we enjoyed the fact that there were lots of comings and gojngs to look at. We would definitely recommend a sea view room with a balcony. The balcony is tiny - just enough for two chairs - but it makes the room, otherwise quite small, feel more spacious. The bathroom is really tiny and awkward to move around but the bed was extremely comfortable. We didn’t eat at the hotel but had breakfast which had a good choice of a continental buffet and you could also order from a hot menu. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and we would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in the old town (which is lovely) although perhaps for the price we would have expected a bit more space and better bathroom. It wasn’t a problem for us but there is no lift and Korcula town itself full of steps so it would be a difficult place to stay for anyone with mobility issues.

Positives: convenient location, quiet room, water view if ferry not at landing, comfortable bed and polite staff. Negatives: uncomfortably small room, micro bathroom with old fixtures (knees nearly hit towel heater when sitting on toilet) and everything is worn out. There is a bar/lounge on ground floor but no reception area - just a desk that is usually staffed where you can get your room key. My husband and I stayed 2 nights. I think was room 106

Beautiful hotel with great features- Pool, restaurant, bar, staff were all wonderful! Walking distance to town center. Sleeping rooms were immaculate and have great views of the town and Adriatic Sea. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful hotel, with excellent customer service. We arrived early and were able to leave our luggage. Very helpful receptionist offered us towels so we could swim in the sea (small beach 1 minute from hotel) prior to check-in. We were also able to enjoy a very reasonably priced hotel breakfast on arrival. We enjoyed evening drinks on the beautiful front terrace, again with excellent service. Rooms were clean, comfortable and air-conditioned, with Rituals products in the bathrooms.

The location is good and the staff are friendly. Simply put, this hotel does not present as a 4-star hotel worth $400/night. We checked into the room and I walked in feeling immediate ick. There are stains on the carpet, the carpet wasn’t vacuumed, there was hair on my pillow, the furniture in the room is banged up and stained. The walls are scuffed and it just feels dingy. The bathroom was way cleaner but the shower was the size of a shower you’d get on a cruise ship. The doors locked from the inside, requiring you to unlock the door in order to leave (safety? What if there was a fire?). The complementary breakfast looked nice, but we got there early and all the yogurt/dairy products were left out and warm. The only fresh/non carb option they had were oranges but there were a ton of flies already in the dish. The hotel markets itself as the oldest hotel in Korcula which should be a boasting point, not a reason for things to be neglected. It could be beautiful after some renovations with way more attention to detail. We presented our concerns to the staff and they couldn’t have been nicer. They cleaned our room again and offered many apologies. This was very appreciated but the utter lack of value in the stay remains. It’s a 2 star hotel, taking advantage of high season and delivering a very lackluster experience.

A lovely old building well situated on the waterfront with lovely views from the terrace. A easy walk from the ferry to the hotel, and a short stroll to restaurants and the old town. We booked a standard room for 3 nights but in retrospect I recommend a superior room for a better experience. There is no elevator and level 1 is actually offices so level 2 is really 3 floors up. There are 4 rooms on this level that have the bed on a mezzanine above the bathroom, so another internal flight of stairs. These rooms, while they have a window it is elevated with a long drawstring for the curtains which cannot be reached to adjust and you cannot see out unless standing on the mezzanine. Downstairs only has a little port hole. Spacious enough but not ideal. We had breakfast included and the setting is beautiful, but the quality of the cooked breakfast was poor. On several mornings we requested eggs which were never cooked enough- poached eggs still had watery whites and the omelettes were runny, and the menu stated on toast but it was always just bread. We did send back, as did a few other couples nearby, but then just avoided eggs. It may be a cultural difference. The staff were attentive and courteous in the hotel, but the food service could improve.
