A stunning hotel with poor service. The location is perfect for those looking to get from the airport and into relaxing mode. The amenities are first class and the food options are good. But, The service is so poor in comparison to the Shangri-la Ria rasa, just down the road. After staying at both, it feels like different companies. Before I arrived I asked both hotels for excursion and activity reccomendations. Ria rasa helped and booked multiple exciting tours. This hotel didn't respond multiple times, so I chased and emailed again and again. Eventually being sent a link to an excursion company with tons of 3-5 day jungle tours. This was a two night stay. When we arrived I asked again about activities. I was sent to a desk that nobody was stood at, waited for far too long, found a qr code messaged and was told it wasn't their job. Eventually in the guest handbook I found the contact details for fishing and boat tour. I didn't get a reply until after all the next days tours had departed with a message saying we are full. Honestly if you have the choice I would highly recommend the slightly longer transfer and head to the Shangri-la Ria Rasa instead. You'll be treated well, the hotel is more relaxing and the staff acknowledge your existence.

The Shanghai-La can be recommended for a stay as family. They have connected rooms and early checkin was no issue. The pool and water area is very nice and the slides made our children happy. The breakfast was great and we would go there again. Only challenge is the relatively high price.

Thanks for the flowers & cake for our anniversary. Really appreciate it. Room is really great and comfortable. Nice view from the room. Unfortunately I could not enjoy my stay there because suddenly not feeling well after eating the chocolate ice cream from ice cream bar. Not sure what the issue. Will repeat next time.

My child love the swimming pools and the equipments there. We enjoyed the fire cultural show so much there. The view there is stunning.

Living experience is great. It's an old hotel but maintain clean. Nice and big pool. If the facility can be renewed, it will be even wonderful. Have no chance to see the sunset due to the cloudy weather during my stay 😔

Very nice property, good for chill out, there are multiple restaurants, we loved there Pizza, sunset view is also amazing, make sure you make bookings for better view with drinks. I wish they had more Vegetarian options.

It's particularly worth mentioning that I once accidentally left some items in the room. The hotel staff promptly contacted me and arranged to return the items quickly, which was very reassuring. However, there are a few areas where the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort could improve. Firstly, the hotel's location is relatively remote, making it inconvenient to hail a taxi, especially at night or during peak hours, which can be troublesome for guests who need to go out frequently. Additionally, there are some issues with the hotel's pool facilities. The edges of the pool may be rough, and I accidentally got a cut while using the pool. I hope the hotel can address this to enhance the safety and comfort of their guests. Overall, the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort remains a highly recommended accommodation choice, particularly for travelers seeking excellent service and delicious meals. If they can resolve the transportation and pool facility issues, this would be an ideal place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

This is a resort with many facilities, a beautiful beach, and different water activities to choose from, but the rooms are a bit old.

Loved our stay at Shangri la hotel, despited the hotel itself is old but it offers a great amount of activities to keep the guests busy and happy. It also owns one of the best sunset bar in KK city.

Nice and easy trip for tourists. Marine activity and island hopping is easy to do and hotel room is big and clean. I was told the room near to the pool and sea is fully renovated and staff asked me if I wanna upgrade. I was happy with Mountain View since I did really stay in the room and see the view from there.
