Medusa Hotel

Just returned home from another fantastic stay here , this was our 3rd time. Such a friendly family run hotel with Daphne, Achilleas, Eleanor and Dino doing their utmost to help. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough ,we feel part of the Greek family now. Ignore the odd negative review ,some people moan about anything, look at the most positive ones! We can't wait to return next year and hopefully meet up with friends we have met previously who keep coming back. And yes you do pay hotel tax and for the air-conditioning but that's same for all hotels I've stayed in Greece. Hotel usually does a bbq one night a week with greek dancing.(which is fun) Bar snacks available throughout the day.

Whilst we sympathize with this family run property trying to make ends meet we feel it is our duty to share the way this establishment appears to operate. The rooms allocated to the Jet2 guests appear to be the ones that have broken windows or a leaking toilet. If you like noise day and night and into the small hours then most of the rooms can her the drunken brawls and loud music. A blind eye also seems to be turned to the people smoking illegal cigarettes around the pool in the day time. The hotel is on a very steep slope and it's around 1 kilometre from the beach. There is no shuttle bus. On the website the rooms have a small kitchen but if you've opted for bed and breakfast you will not be provided with any pots or pans. The breakfast is very basic and in a poorly lit area. The coridors are also poorly lit in the daytime. The only positive about this hotel is that it is about a 5 minute walk, albeit uphill from many nice restaurants.

We arrived late at night met by Dino who gave us a warm welcome and took us straight to our room. The hotel is run by a lovely helpful family who paid lots of attention to our little boy and instantly made us feel at home. We were lucky enough to have a large room with a beautiful view of the pool and sea! Ice cold drinks, yummy pizza and toasties. Thank you so much for making our first family holiday so enjoyable, it was everything we could have wished for and more. - There was a complaint whilst we were there about noise late at night. Our room was very close to the bar area however we didn’t notice any noise.

The positives, the hotel is well situated between the main strip and the beach. There are plenty of sunbeds. The rooms are spacious, as are the balconies. Sadly, that is it. The negatives, for us, definitely outweighed the positives. From the moment we checked in it was apparent that the hotel bar/pool area music was loud. This continued all day only to be cranked up even higher in the evening. It was so loud we could hear every word of every song whilst lying in bed trying to sleep. Most nights it was accompanied by shouting, clattering of chairs and karaoke. We like to make the most of the sunshine and sunbathe or go out to the beach or visit local areas, come back to shower, eat out, have a few beers/wines etc and come back to chill and go to bed. The music and loud noise didn’t stop till generally around 1.30/2am every single night. Judging by the rest of the hotel clientele, many older couples (65/70+) the men/lads we saw didn’t appear to be hotel guests, not sure if hotel open to locals late night after bars in village closed. The day before we left we overheard another couple mention the noise to Daphne the “house mother” (!) and her friend who seems to be on site every day and the friends answer was “people like to have a few drinks and enjoy themselves” Perfect customer service!

What can I say about the medusa, well we came home two weeks ago and just booked ready for next year Th family Who run the hotel are amazing, daphne, Eleanor, Dino and papa are the nicest kindest most helpful people you could ever hope to meet The pool is lovely yes it's a stoney bottom but you get used to it, plenty of space and sunbeds, lovely drinks from the bar, ice cold lager on tap and cocktails, great pizzas and salads as well as a good choice of meals. And snacks The rooms are basic as you would expext but we had everything we needed for our two week stay, the balcony was a great size and a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. We really can't wait to come back, please put the mythos and peach juice on ice and we will be seeing you in about 300 days

After a long day travelling we turned up at the hotel to be ushered through to the pool bar area. The owner checked our passports and then left. We sat for over an hour not knowing what was happening. I asked at the bar if I could have our key and was told we couldn’t check in until 4. All the years we’ve been going to Greece this has never happened, we’ve never had to wait to check in!! When we did get the key I was quizzed by the owner about what time I had left my house that morning. Jet2 never told us we had to wait to check in and neither did the owner until we asked. So not off to a good start. Eventually in the room it was nice and clean but in the basement. Typically Greek no shower curtain, no problem, however the floor would flood and not drain away. Stagnant water and no window in bathroom not a good combination. The pool is not standard construction but Peebles dash so the water looks like it’s dirty. The texture on the pool hurts your feet so it can be a struggle getting in and out. The pool is dirty with a massive scummy dirty mark all the way around. When we’re away we like to relax, have some nice food, few drink but not to late to bed. If your like us this is not the place for you. The loud music starts at roughly midnight and doesn’t finish until 3 or 4 in the morning. Would not return the owner was rude and only communicated with the drunks who spent all their time and money in her bar. Not for us.
