Boat Haus Mediterranean Experience Alcaidesa La Linea

Despite being just two people, we stayed in one of the large boats--two bedrooms, two bathrooms--and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The boat itself was impeccably clean and furnished with new, modern appliances and furnishings. There's an excellent kitchen for those who want to cook, and the boat's rooftop 'terrace' is a great place to relax with views of Gibraltar and of the marina. The provided water and welcome drinks in the fridge were a great touch. Communication before and during the stay was excellent, and written directions provided on everything (from parking to entry to departure and everything in between...) were clear and helpful. The Boat Haus people also arranged a morning tour of Gibraltar for us, which was, again, extremely well organized and a lot of fun.

Never have I been on a house boat in my life. This experience has made me want to come back. The boat is perfect in every way, the setting, the interior of the boat is modern and you even have air conditioning. Fabulous! We visited Gibraltar and it was an easy access to the border. The sun setting whilst on the roof of the boat was magical.

Total gem of a spot. Really unique experience. Comfortable beds. Clean. Loved the rooftop view! So fun! Our daughter rode the provided bicycle all over the area. Secure access in and out with free parking. Wifi was easy to access. Used google map to get us directly to provided parking lot address.

Whether you like a small cottage or a luxurious cabin at your disposal, this unique, colorful, and vibrant hotel resort has the best of what you may be looking for when adventuring to La Linea or Gibraltar, which is why our family went here in the first place. There were in fact hotels in Gibraltar, but this caught our eye from the moment we saw it on many sites just like TripAdvisor. Never stayed in a boat house before, never knew what to expect, but some things that caught our eye from the start are what we will talk about: 1.) View of the Cliff (is it that good!?) 2.) The multi-colored boats vs the modern looking luxury boats (is there a difference?) 3.) How hard is it to access this area? Answers: 1.) The view from both ends is amazing, especially on a Luxury boat Haus because of the 2nd floor. The smaller boats have a back door, but it is a small area behind the boat to relax your feet, stay in a hammock, and take an outdoor rinse if you want to use the outdoor head. The marina is behind you, and in front of you is the Giant Gibraltar cliff. Just below it, more obviously, is the border, so you'll see lots of gates. Can't do anything about that, but this is the closest hotel to the border, and it's super easy to walk across. There are many things to do in Spain still, too! 2.) When we stayed in the multi-colored boat, we realized that it was in fact smaller for some in our party's tastes, but equally fun for those of us that liked that sort of thing. This is a toss-up I think for westerners, but every European and many other tourists I saw loved the layout. It was pure coziness to them. We had 4 adults, and there were 2 bunks, 1 full-size. There is a sofa in the living room, but we wanted to keep that for the luggage area, etc, so no one slept there. The kitchenette had a fridge, sink, etc. The bathroom is not just loaded with a sink and toilet, but the sink EXTENDS into a shower. You WILL shower right next to the toilet! First timers, this could either be awesome or disoriented based on your idea of adventure. You gotta live for this! With the LUXURY boat Haus, which we tried the 2nd night (Barbara allowed us to try both at their normal rate, but she was super flexible to allow us to try the difference!), was simply....well, amazing. There is no other word for it. This takes that cozy, colorful European energy and brings it up several notches. The bathroom now has a full shower next to a sink and toilette. Very modern spa look, beautiful. The sofa is no longer just part of the boat but an actual house-hotel-sofa. You get all the amenities and comfort of an actual hotel in the outside housing of a Boat House. So, take your pick: Adventure with more boat, or more house. Both are great in their own way, but knowing my own group of westerners (read: typical Americans), the group couldn't deny the allure of the luxury house, and felt the price for both was totally understandable. Very, very cool. Rented they ‘Royal’ houseboat and woke up to the water basically at our feet via floor to ceiling glass windows next to our bed. This experience was super-cool not to mention parking was free and you can walk into Gibraltar from here in 15 mins. Highly recommend

Definitely the quirkiest accommodation ever. What an amazing experience. This is not for everyone, but me, my family & friends loved it. We booked 3 “boats” for 5 nights & loved every minute. A great location to walk to many bars, restaurants & shops. 2 bars & restaurants with great food & service just a couple of minutes walk. Decent beach just 15 minutes walk, Gibraltar just 15 minutes walk, crossing an international border on foot is so cool. Free parking, dog friendly, great wifi, air con, etc. Tea / coffee provided. Towels, linen, bedding all included. Toiletries & cold water provided. The views in all directions are amazing, especially from the roof “terrace” This place is amazing. Toilet arrangement a little strange, but that is “boat” life for you. Communication from Barbara was excellent & all info provided was comprehensive. Enjoy the fish swimming up to your deck every day. Good secure accommodation in a fabulous location. Definitely recommend & will definitely return. Amazing value for money & an amazing experience.

We had 5 nights here. Great location if you arrive at La Linea bus station or Gibraltar airport. The view is just amazing across to the Rock and out to the marina. Also very quiet despite the marina walkway which is very well used by pedestrians who are constantly photographing the pretty house boats. Communication was excellent with Barbara and we felt the complex was very safe with entry security codes etc. The house boat-number 9 had a caravan feel except bigger and with a/c or heating ( which we needed as it was unseasonably cold). The instant hot water was a bonus as was the drinking bottled water dispenser. We slept very well and the cooking faculties were fine for us. Our only challenge was the shower/toilet combo which meant the cubicle got soaked if you used the shower. Personally we didn’t like this and would have preferred using the marina shower faculties but that’s just us. We would still come back! The weather was not great but in warmer times, we would definitely use the outside seating and roof area which were just lovely. Overall, a GREAT experience!!!

.... pending our flight back from Gibralter to the UK. Quite compact inside but very well organised and good for 2 people, more would be okay but 4 is the max. Shower was basically a wet room but worked with lots of hot water and kitchen cooker is a hot plate which worked really well. Everything was as expected but then we know how a caravan works which basically this is but fixed on water. Location is brilliant and the reason we stayed. 10 mins from the border and 15 mins walk to the local Spanish restaurants & bars including a really good supermarket. Local beach is not far away either. We would stay again when flying using Gibralter and next time for more than 2 nights. Staff were brilliant and always available.

I was visiting Gibraltar with my family from Nerja. We wanted to stay one night close by and I found that option. We booked directly from the parking lot and got access directly. It has free parking close by at the Marina, which enabled us to bypass the long lines of cars going to Gibraltar. Gibraltar customs are at walking distance from the boat, about 10/15 minutes. We also ordered breakfast, which they delivered the day of our arrival. The Classic boat is very functional. We love the terrace on top, where we had a few drinks and our morning coffee + breakfast.
