Came on a Saturday to visit friends who stayed here for lunch (I've stayed here many times myself over the decades, last a year ago) and decided to go to the spa before, and also went to the beach. Great, beautiful location and a warm sea with an empty beach - very nice! Then the spa experience - wholesome, kids and families but not loud, great water temperature, all spotlessly clean, and wonderful outdoor pool and the best onsen (strangely underused) in Tallinn. Five points for each! But the restaurant situation is terrible. Wicca, the accoladed one on the first floor, is now permanently closed for lunch, as is the restaurant Verde which is also upstairs. But open for breakfast and dinner. So we were forced to eat downstairs in a very drafty, cafeteria-style place with a steady march of conference attendants walking through, basically a mediocre lobby restaurant. You need to order at the bar; even if in a wheelchair (that happened to someone else), you're supposed to get your menus yourself! If you sit down and wait, you wait forever, as nobody will tell you. The food itself - after ambiance and service are one point - is surprisingly good, if not really "good". I'd say three points. The steak was just too tough, but altogether things were credible. But EUR 10.50 for a small glass of street wine and EUR 7 for fries (not great fries) is, even for Tallinn, a ripoff. This was a gastro destination once; for lunch, I can only say, best bring your own sandwiches and eat at the beach. Which is great, as is the spa.
