We went to the jamaica inn for a meal as it was my birthday. I ordered pie of the day and on the specials board it said turkey and brocoli, but when I started eating the pie I noticed that the meat was really pink. We spoke to the manager who returned the dish to the kitchen and she returned and said that the turkey was pink as it is slow cooked over night so some is pink and some is white. As I began looking at the meat I could see that it was gammon so was not happy that the information I was given was not correct and there was no brocoli in sight. I could have had an issue eating gammon as I suffer with a lot of allergies which is why i chose the turkey. I did not eat the meat as I was put off by the colour of the turkey that was not turkey. No staff came around to ask if everything was OK with the food which they do even in a witherspoon so a little disappointed given the high prices of the meals.

Based on Hotel/Restaurant/Museum/Farm & Gift Shop So we went away for a night as a mini get away, my mother & I. The farm shop shelves were empty. Literally no fresh produce, bread, eggs, there were a couple packs of bacon & sausages and some cold blakes pasties. Disappointed that you couldnt buy the ‘Jamaica Inn’ bitter that is on draught in the bay by the bottle as a gift to take away. I wasnt prepared to pay £17 for a bottle of wine with a branded label. The gift shop was selling general tat you could buy in any tourist attraction up and down the country. With the expectation of £15 for a tshirt, £6.50 for a bar towel or £1.99 for a coaster. The laser cut glasses I thought were good value though. Tankard, short or wine glasses available at very good prices. Its a real shame you do not get served your drinks in these branded glasses in the restaurant as a added welcome touch. Anyway… museum, even as a paying hotel guest i was surprised to learn you had to pay to go in the museum. It is made up of 3 areas. Namely focusing on the author Daphne more so than the inn Itself. This is the last third of the museum. Interesting read/look around. And not much to pay to go in anyway. We enjoyed a drink (a pot of tea & pint of Birra Moretti) in the sun in the old courtyard. A little over £8 for both. They had an offer for £5.50 for a wedge of cake and a hot drink. This seemed great value even though we didnt have it. The cake someone else had looked lovely. My mum booked our rooms, i wasn’t aware there was an ‘old’ and ‘new’ wing so to speak. We were in the new part which was a bit of a shame as we wanted the full Jamaica Inn experience. Will have to enquire how we can stay in the original part of the inn if we stay again. Room was pleasant enough. Good facilities. I had a single room which was surprised by having a small double expecting a single bed. TV VERY high up on the wall but a good size. The room itself was very clean, a clean tv remote which i always appreciate. If i picked faults the water glass was a little grubby but overall very happy. The pillows are sooo good! The blackout curtains were brilliant. The walls were paper thin however, my mum heard someone vomiting & coughing in the next room from 5:30am in the next room which work her up and people up and down corridors, toilets flushing, taps running in other rooms left nothing to the imagination. Paper thin walls - expect to hear everything. The pillows & mattress i wanted to keep though! Other gripe would be housing keeping talking loudly and lining the hallway cleaning rooms around 7:30am while others are sleeping. Isn’t very welcome. Also a struggle with luggage leaving due to their shopping baskets of glasses and boxes of toiletries, dirty bedding blocking the corridor. Namely outside an accessible room you would not get a wheel chair out. We had dinner in the restaurant we booked a table in advance. The menu didn’t excite me. If you love your red meat you are spoilt for choic

Beautiful hotel. And service was exceptional. We went for my friends birthday and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious and so was our evening meal. Didnt see or hear any uninvited guests as we were in the newer part but when we explored up the old corridor... It wasn't a welcome experience!! If you're a bit of a ghost buster, I'd recommend a room in the old part.

One of those places you must see if you are in the area. Historic and in the middle of some beautiful countryside. The restaurant is fantastic and even has an indoor area where dogs are allowed. I have been a couple of times and would go again. Some nice trinkets in the gift shop. A farm shop sells local produce. The museum is on my to do list.

Really disappointed in such an awful experience. Rude staff awful breakfast and everything was too much trouble. Dark dinghy and horrible sticky tables. The breakfast was cold and greasy. Will not be returning and would not recommend. Hostile environment

We have stayed numerous times at Jamaica Inn and returned early October. Our room was very comfortable and our stay, as always, was a delight. The best bits? The breakfast is scrumptious. Tasty sausages, meaty and flavoursome hog's pudding and runny yolks. I must commend Kate whose professional and personal touch at breakfast is just what you need to start the morning the right way. We dined in the evening just once during our stay. The pie at the inn remains the one to beat. My partner praised the moussaka dish for its moreish taste and suculence. I would like to offer The Coaching Inn Group some suggestions which I think would elevate the inn experience. When we previously stayed, Cornish Tea was provided in the bedroom. We adored this delicious and unique tasting tea. A cup of this after facing the wrath of the misty Bodmin moors was a treat. Unfortunately, the Cornish Tea has been replaced by a different brand. The on-site shop still sells Cornish Tea. My feeling is, having this tea in the bedrooms might inspire guests to then purchase the tea from the shop. It would be interesting to know if the shop sales for Cornish Tea changed after it stopped being included in bedrooms. My second suggestion is to source a more local yogurt supplier for the breakfast menu. Given the beautiful Cornish produce already on offer on the breakfast menu, this would be far more appropriate. My third suggestion is that a blackboard sign is placed at the top of the breakfast dining area, advising that the area is for guests only. This may help direct non-guests better. During our stay we noticed many non-guests stumbling into the breakfast area, only to be re-directed. Thanks for a great stay!
